I want to build a classroom library that represents my students and introduces them to different authors which will encourage students to read more. I have chosen books that include many diverse authors that discuss issues such as racial tension, multiculturalism, and justice, as well as authors that discuss issues such as the queer identity, code switching, coming of age, acceptance, disability, and love. My goal is to promote inclusion, strengthen a sense of identity, agency and value in the classroom, build empathy, encourage reading, and establish an awareness of others and their experiences.
