  • A Recording Studio for our Classroom

    Funded Aug 19, 2024

Thank you so much for making this dream possible. We were able to get a wonderful introductory audio interface, microphones, and cables to start our recording projects. We regularly record ourselves singing and performing, and now we can start using audio programs to edit and produce our tracks.

We are so excited to have professional quality microphones, which will also hugely improve the quality of our sound recording. I'm so incredibly grateful to start building this studio and hopefully get our students learning about recording technology. It's such a booming industry that our students have an opportunity to learn about and become involved in.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Crapanzano

  • Musical Mics & Monitors

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

Thank you so much for your donation to our auditorium. With these funds, we were able to provide microphones for almost every spoken role character in Matilda. These microphones were a huge upgrade to our system and will allow everyone to be heard so much better than before.

The other biggest part of this project was the monitor. We are hugely grateful with this monitor because it will make sure our performers on stage will be able to hear themselves. Our older auditorium has speakers that face out to the crowd, and it's very tricky to get the balance of loud enough for the stage performers to hear it but also not too loud for the audience. This way, we can bring the right overall levels to the stage.

This equipment will be used beyond just this year and this production at Albert Hill. We hope to grow a strong tradition of musical theater here on the Hill and this sound upgrade made that possible. There's something about your own microphone to make you feel so incredibly special on stage. Thank you all for making that happen.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Crapanzano

  • Electrifying Our Guitar Ensemble

    Funded May 17, 2023

Our electric guitar, amp, and cable arrived two days ago and the kids cannot wait to get their hands on it. I've had to fend them off to let me get the instrument set up and ready to go!

This electric guitar and amp gives our kids a chance to feel what it is like to be a rock star. We've been learning riffs and chords on our acoustic nylon stringed classical guitars all year and now we have the opportunity to make them play out!

For the last two weeks of the school year, now kids will take turns trying out their favorite chord, riff, or solo. We are going to do a blues unit where the acoustic guitars play the backup chords and the person on the electric gets the solo. It has been such a pleasure teaching these young musicians this year, and I'm so excited that most of them will be coming back to intermediate guitar next year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Crapanzano

  • Bring On the Sound Part 2!

    Funded Mar 17, 2023

Purchasing these accessories has elevated our classroom. We've used the mic stands in performances and our classroom. The portable amplifier has allowed us to move our mic system anywhere! We are bringing the whole system to the high school for our chorus to sing at the 8th grade moving up ceremony.

We've used the adapters to hook up equipment directly to the amplifier. We have also used them to hook up headphones and keyboards to learn about recording technology. All of these tools have shown our students how recording technology works and opens up their minds to new career opportunities.

My students have felt so important and deserving through this donation. Our school building is older and we don't have a lot of technology available to them, so being able to use these tools to amplify what they do really helps them feel seen, heard, and paid attention to, which is something that not all of our students get at home.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Crapanzano

  • Bring on the Sound

    Funded Feb 23, 2023

We use our microphone system almost every day in our classroom. This system has allowed us to practice microphone etiquette and (since we have such a small class) provide an opportunity to feel more heard. We've had discussions about how these systems work and how recording/amplification systems work.

We've used our microphones to go down to the gym and sing the national anthem to the crowd. We've used them with YouTube Karaoke. We've used them in our teacher appreciation week thank you video!

There's something about holding a microphone in your hand that makes you feel important. Students who don't traditionally excel in academic subjects sometimes do extremely well in their electives classes and these students especially have felt important, and that to me was worth it all.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Crapanzano
