Mathematics, Robots, and Droids!
Funded Jul 20, 2021Once we returned from online learning, my students needed the spark of fun educational activities to awaken their curiosity. My students used the iPad to connect to the droids and code a path and completed tasks. They were able to connect math with the tasks that they completed.
Doing hands on technology in the classroom engaged the students and they could not wait to come back and learn. That was the most exciting to see, the eagerness to learn.
Other than using the iPad for the droids, some of my students crated very artistic math virtual posters, it was a way to show their learning in a different way. This was all possible because of your support. We thank you.”

Funded Oct 13, 2020My students and I were very anxious and excited when researching presidential candidates and their platforms. I was able to reach out to students who were unable to focus on research due to the amount of traffic in their homes. Some students are not able to afford ear buds nor earphone that will help them hear lessons and focus, so when they received the earphones, they were so excited to use them for research purposes. The students used these materials to also find videos that they recommended to their peers that contributed to many important discussions within our classroom. Students also shared how to register to vote, how old they need to be to register, and where they can go to cast their vote. Students felt empowered and they discovered that they can also help their community with this important information.”

Funded Oct 13, 2020My students and I really had fun with this project. Students created a google form asking important questions regarding voting. Students gathered this data by taking a random sample from within our school population. They analyzed that data and created a lesson with important information for their peers on the importance of voting, how to register to vote, and other information. We began to store this data using the external hard drive. This data can also be used year after year. This helps students see any trends in their data, and they can see whether helping inform their peers actually makes a difference. They can come up with plans to get the word out, all while implementing data mining and statistics they learned in our classroom. Students were especially excited to see how this external hard drive will soon link them to future students and help make a difference in their community.”

Funded Jul 10, 2020My students and I have been working great together this year because of the materials we received after this project was funded. These materials have allowed me to create engaging lessons that students really enjoy. It is difficult to show students math problems, by "writing" with a mouse, but with the stylus, I can easily work through math problems with my students. I have also been able to create and upload tutorial videos of lesson we have created together. Sometimes technology acts up, and if it does and a student misses a class they will be able to access any missed lessons on my newly created website. If it weren't for these materials, teaching math online could have been an issue, instead it has allowed me to help, create, and assist my students in various ways and we are all doing great because of them.”

Funded Jun 17, 2020Since distance learning began, students began to attend classes through zoom instead of in a classroom setting. It was very sudden and to figure out a way to teach mathematics without proper materials at home was very difficult. Since receiving the Surface pro, I was able to write using the stylus and create engaging lessons. It is very difficult and time consuming to write with a mouse and the ability to have a touch screen was a big help. Students can ask questions, and I can clarify questions easily without having limitations on writing.
My students were excited to access the video lessons that I am now able to provide on my YouTube channel. They feel more at ease to access my video lessons in case they miss a class due to connectivity issues, they feel they will not fall behind.
My students now have different ways to access the material and the they love it!”
