For the 2020-2021 school year, I plan to conduct a novel study with my students on the popular book WONDER by R.J. Palacio. Students will be able to follow along with my curriculum plan whether school resumes in person or continues remotely. WONDER will allow for my students to easily read a novel about a student at the same age and grade as themselves, while also focusing on social-emotional learning and promoting WONDER's message of kindness - "When faced with the choice of being right or being kind, choose KIND." My unit plan will allow students to improve reading fluency, reading comprehension, written expression and social emotional skills while teaching them important life lessons on being kind and doing the right thing - even when the right thing is difficult. Teachers Pay Teachers will provide us a Workbook, Flip Book and Google Distance Learning Slides. Personal copies of the novel Wonder for each student to keep.
