5th Grade Blended Learning Materials
Funded Sep 16, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. We were able to use our pencil cases to store our pencils and other classroom supplies. Due to COVID-19, the sharing of classroom materials wasn't allowed this year. With the use of individual pencil cases, our materials were kept clean and safe! (and the pencil cases were super cute!)
When the students received their own pencil case and found out they would be designing and drawing on it, they were ecstatic! The student's faces showed their excitement (even from behind a mask). Throughout the year, students were able to use their pencil cases on the days they were "in-person," as well as the days they were remote and learning from home.
In our classroom, we are reading a novel about a young boy who is a "shadow child" and has to follow a lot of rules. It's tempting for him to break the rules but he knows that he has too in order to keep himself and his family safe. We are going to continue reading this novel and work on making connections to our own worlds and the rules and regulations we need to follow in order to keep ourselves and loved ones safe.
Thank you again for the support to my classroom!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Burton

Funded Sep 2, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donations in the beginning of the school year. With your support, we were able to tie-dye masks in our school yard. We had such a blast! When the masks were complete, our students faces lit up! They were so excited to wear their new brightly colored mask.
Not only did we get to create masks to keep ourselves safe, but we also created masks for children in local homeless shelters. The act of giving back to the community helps our students understand the importance of helping others out, especially during challenging times.
With the impeding New York winter around the corner, decisions are being made left and right to close school buildings. If we happen to go 100% remote, our students will get to use the white boards that were a part of this project on a daily basis to practice their math skills. Thank you again for donating to my students! We are forever thankful.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Burton
