The materials I selected will help parents to support students at home. Parents will use the materials as visual support to teach vocabulary, the alphabet, numbers, and literacy skills. For example, when talking about the alphabet or letter sounds, parents could use the alphabet cards to point to the letters and to pictures that begin with the letter sound. The materials will help parents feel more confident and prepare to teach the lesson. Children will also be able to see and touch materials while making connections with what they hear and do. For example, when talking about numbers and quantity at home, parents could help students use the manipulative to count and the number of cards to match the quantity with a written number. Engaging students in hands-on experiences will be fun for the students and easier for parents to teach math. Parents could also use the books to engage students in conversations about the illustrations and ask questions to help students with listening and speaking skills. Parents could also use books in other ways, such as to find letters or sight words. Most importantly, it would improve students' vocabulary and support English learners.
