Our Sensory-Friendly Sanctuary
Funded Nov 4, 2024There are not enough words to express my gratitude for your generous donations to my class project. I am so excited to know that such wonderful people have stepped up to help my students. My students and I are so very appreciative of your support. The special seats, sensory toys, and snacks have helped me create a sensory-friendly, safe space where my students can thrive and grow.
My students face so many challenges day after that impact their ability to learn. Sometimes I have to pause my lesson, just to ensure that they eat something. The snacks help me make sure that their stomachs are not empty.
The joy and surprise on their faces when the supplies arrived really warmed my heart. Watching my students learn and develop more confidence in their skills, while they are in a safe space, are some of the greatest joys of my job. Thank you again for helping to give my students the tools they need to be as successful as possible.”

Funded May 7, 2024Tools like Ipads and educational apps make lessons/therapy more engaging. Students can participate directly, which helps them understand concepts better as they remain engaged. Technology gives my students access to a vast amount of information and resources. Adaptive learning software tailors educational experiences to individual student needs. This means students who need more help can get extra practice and move ahead at their own pace. Overall, technology supports diverse learning styles and can make education more inclusive and effective.
This new technology helps to keep my students excited about learning. Students love new tools that offer interactive elements, like games, simulations, or virtual experiments. These features make learning more engaging and fun, turning traditional lessons into dynamic experiences. My students appreciate technology that helps them learn at their own pace and provides tailored support. Many of them do not have this access at home, so having access to the latest gadgets or software at school is exciting for them.
I work with students who have communication challenges and have seen how technology has helped reduce the stress that comes with those challenges. I appreciate the support that this project has provided for my students and am grateful to everyone who has shared my vision for my students.”

Funded May 20, 2020These resources helped me connect to my students during the stressful Pandemic. My students were so surprised when I showed up with supplies at their homes (respecting social distance rules). They were excited to see me and even more excited when they saw that I came bearing gifts! Many of these students did not have supplies at home and the parents were feeling the stress of keeping the children engaged and interested in completing assignments. The materials helped them complete work and assignments, and they were so happy to use the supplies to create their own projects while they were homebound.”
