  • Unwrap the Power of Kindness! Help Us Spread Holiday Kindness!

    Funded Nov 18, 2024

The new resources were very helpful to all our scholars this past holiday season. We wanted the items to have an impact on them at a time that matters most. The holidays can be such a tough financial time. All of the items were well received by our families. We took great care in handcrafting each gift bag with each scholars name and making it very personalized. Each scholar received the gift items and a hat and glove set to keep warm during the winter months.

They truly enjoyed the gifts and were so excited when asked to come over and "holiday shop". I got a little assistance from my daughter who is an Art minor in college. She creatively designed each gift bag with winter art by hand, and wrote each students name in a fun and fancy font. They picked the toys and items they wanted, and we also discussed with them the importance of kindness during the holidays, and throughout the year. We had a ball with this project! So much creativity, thoughtfulness, and love went into spreading a message of kindness to our scholars, which was very well received.”

  • A Safe And Welcoming Place To Learn & Grow!

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

What an impact this project had on my students this year!! The natural tone curtains, all the boho themed materials, and classroom furniture added such a nice touch to the classroom this year! Students were welcomed with motivational themed posters, that really complemented the appearance of the room. The reading corner is one of the most popular places to go with the colorful pillows, new rug, and new and very comfortable reading chairs.

The students lit up when they saw the new room! Teachers, have come in and said the room is so comfortable, organized, and a whole vibe! Administration also said they felt the classroom was very welcoming and wanted other staff members to see it. On parent night, the parents loved it! This was such an amazing way to start the school year off on a positive note. Everyday was filled with excitement when more and more materials would arrive. The students were very excited to see what was coming next, as office staff brought items to the room each day.

Thank you so much for making this possible for our students!!!”

  • Help Students Stay Equipped and Safe While Learning

    Funded Jan 21, 2024

This was such an exciting project for students to take part in! Technology is such an important part of the day and having adequate headphones that are much more comfortable for the students was such an exciting and impactful moment. Students need headphones when listening to the audio of texts, and lessons on line. Our students were beyond excited to use the new headphones and additional supplies that allowed them to have their own individual items with matching pencil cases for their supplies to go in.

The matching water bottles were especially helpful to assist students with being able to stay hydrated while learning. This was one of the most popular items! As students were seen carrying their water bottles around the school, many students came to our class to ask questions about the water bottles, and how they could get one.

All the items were greatly received and so appreciated. The students will remember this for years to come. We are so very thankful to all the donors who contributed to making this possible. Thank you so much!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Turner

  • Stay Warm and Read!

    Funded Jan 9, 2024

Thank you so very much for the donated items from "Stay Warm and Read". The students were so excited to pick their own hat and gloves sets to take home when most of them did not have any cold weather accessories. The packages came on the coldest day of the year. We had just had two snow days and then the packages arrived and students were able to wrap up in the items and stay warm on their after school commutes. The weather reports talked about frostbite, and the importance of wrapping up. The cashmere scarves were such a nice added touch because students wrapped up in the scarves as they went out to brave the cold. We shared the books also for book readings and the selections were just time for Black History Month.”

  • Help Us Spread Kindness This Season Through Gift Giving!

    Funded Dec 2, 2023

This project was truly one that spread a great deal of kindness during this holiday season by giving to all our students this year!! Each one of them was able to enjoy the gifted items in our classroom holiday kindness store! Because many of them are less fortunate, this project created such an exciting moment for them all!! So many parents wrote notes to say what a generous and kind act this was. They were truly grateful.

Students were filled with excitement as each one got a chance to come over to "shop" and pick out items for themselves or items they wanted to give away to others. The fun selection of items from light up toys to small stuffed animals, made every student light up when it was their turn to participate in the holiday shopping! Also, the hats and gloves were well received, because many of them do not have them.

After the impact of this project we are seeing a great deal of positive changes in the classroom culture. We will continue to teach character traits to our students which will impact the community and the world! Thank you so much!”

Students can use these materials at home and at school. The materials will help them build confidence in word recognition as they decode words to help improve their reading fluency and reading comprehension. It is very important for students to have phonetic skills necessary to read at their proper grade level. Without these very foundational skills students will be kept at a further disadvantage, as it compares to functioning readers. Good reading relies on a familiarity with text structure. As students utilize these materials they will maximize their reading comprehension and growth.
