  • Math Proficiency

    Funded Feb 13, 2024

Thank you for the donation of math games. My students are loving the games, and it is helping them with their math. We do it in small groups and as centers which allows all students to work together and fine tune math skills. As we are approaching the end of the school year really focusing on these concepts in order to pass off on their first-grade math skills. All the games are interactive and can be challenging for many students and some games are easier for those struggling students to practice more on earlier learned skills.

Thank you again for desire to help our students.”

  • Phonics for Firsties

    Funded Nov 2, 2023

Thank you for your generous donation. With your generosity my students have been able to practice and get fluent in multiple areas of need in their learning. The cvc words box has allowed them to become more fluent in their reading and sounding out these familiar words that are seen throughout text. Each generous gift you've given allows students to continue to learn skills throughout the school year. We love doing these in small groups where students can really work on skills they need to in fun and simple ways. Thank you again for helping in their learning in creative and fun ways.”

  • Animal and Plant Science

    Funded Aug 25, 2023

Thank you for your generosity and donating science items to my first grade classroom .My students are loving learning about science and these items helped us gain insight into what they have remembered thus far this school year. Some of my students were leery of the insects but quickly it became one of their favorite activities to do. We used each picture shown as a small group center which allowed them ample time to explore and test their knowledge. Thank you again, and I know my students are also grateful for you donating to our classroom.”

  • STEM Learning

    Funded Apr 10, 2023

Thank you for giving my class a chance to do some hands on learning. The students enjoyed being engineers, and mathematicians while trying to build bridges and towers out of the stem bins that you were able to help provide for my class.

First graders love to do hands on and to be creative which these bins allowed them to do exactly that. Many comments from them on how fun it was and talking with their table mates about what they were building and how the tools in it were providing necessary structure to help. The conversations were wonderful and the students look forward to doing these in the near future again.”

  • Chapter Book Challenge

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

Thank you for your generous donation. My students were thrilled to see books that some have seen their older siblings read in our classroom for them to read. Many students started first using these as a book study but soon children were picking these books out to read independently during silent reading time. They loved to boast about how they read the entire book and were excited to read the next book in the series. To see their love of reading challenging books was priceless. The parents were so happy to see their students being challenged and to see them increasing their reading time due to the fact that the students were loving the stories.”

  • Let's Play a Game

    Funded Apr 10, 2023

Thank you for your generosity. As a title one school and due to busy lives students are not playing board games as much and learning the skills that come with playing games. First graders are learning valuable tools such as taking turns and being a good team player when they may lose a game. All students have enjoyed the board games you donated and ask to play them on a regular basis. I have enjoyed watching their faces light up when we pull them out and the laughter heard as they are playing games with their peers. It has also helped them to build new friendships as they play with peers who are new to class or ones they haven't played with much in the past.”

  • We Love to Learn

    Funded Oct 26, 2022

Thank you for your generosity. The colored circles on our tables help students find where to sit but also provides a writing area for them to work out answers for problems given to them. We are constantly going through pencils and erasers for we do writing throughout the day, so having quality writing tools helps us get longer use of them. We are excited to use the stamps to practice spelling words we are working on that week or to help with phonemic awareness as we recognize sounds in a words. All these tools are greatly appreciated and students love having new tools to help them with their learning.”

  • Inviting Space

    Funded Jan 21, 2022

Thank you for the area rug. Having a nice area rug allows us to gather as group on the floor to do activities and have wonderful discussions.

The green chairs allow students some flexible seating which supports our students who need options throughout the day. Whether it's doing work or sitting and enjoying some quiet reading time.

My students love listening to books on cd at our listening center. Not only do they enjoy a good story but it helps them hear the pace a story should be read and hear words they may of been unsure of when reading on their own.

My students love the inviting space and take ownership in having a space that can be used for so many things. Thank you for giving them this opportunity.”

  • Let’S Get Learning

    Funded Nov 2, 2021

Thank you for your donation of everyday supplies. My students love the independence of using the pencil sharpener when they need to sharpen a pencil. The math manipulatives have helped my students with hands on learning which helps solidify the concepts they are learning. Having hands on tools keeps them engaged as well. Some of the other items were used to provide more independent practice of concepts they are learning. All of the supplies are greatly appreciated, which helped my classroom have the needed tools to help them learn,”

  • Let's Listen to a Story

    Funded Jul 13, 2021

Thank you for your donation of the listening center. Our school is in a very high poverty area and some of my students had not been given the opportunity of a listening center to be able to listen to books read by a variety of people. Now that my students have had an opportunity to listen to stories and practice their phonemic awareness by using the listening center, they eagerly ask to use it each day. I have seen students be excited to do their work at the listening center and hearing books they have never heard before. Thank you to the donors for your generous donation that brought excitement for new stories and phonemic work, and an opportunity they may not have gotten without your donation. My first grade class and I thank you for your generosity and support of inspiring a love for listening to new books. As well as phonemic awareness work which is an important base to learning to read.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gresham

Listening to stories is a great way for students to hear the ebb and flow that happens when you are reading a book aloud. It also allows students to hear a variety of people read books and how just listening to a story by a good reader can pull you in. My students are just beginning to really enjoy books and learning how to read fluently, they also love listening to stories. As a teacher of students who speak more than one language I would love to get books in other languages so they can hear them in the other languages they speak.
