• Charge It!

  Like in my schools across the country, our school is having a cell phone problem. I have tried many things to keep my students from getting distracted and not using their phones. We have done lessons on studies that show that getting distracted with phones during class time lowers academic scores.

  My students want to do better in class but it's difficult with their phone distractions.

  Thanks to your kind donations we were able to get a charging dock and cables to charge their cell phones as they focus on their lessons.”

• You Got This

  My students are in need of many school related materials and we are always trying to fill in those gaps as best we can. We do fundraisers, write Donorschoose projects, and pay out of pocket. These two Hello Kitty backpacks served a great rewards and incentive to our students.

  Many of our students LOVE Hello Kitty nowdays and for that reason I decided to pick these particular backpacks. I knew that they were going to motivate them to work hard. Thanks to all of those who donated towards our project to make this possible for our students.”

• An Apple A Day

  Thank you so much for having donated to our classroom project. This computer has been very useful to our classroom. My students are now working together in group projects using this computer. One piece of technology can sometimes make a huge difference in the delivery of a lesson and this computer has been it. In out last project my students were able to research backpacks so that they could design their own. Once they had done their research they were able to create a model using appropriate dimensions. This project would have been very difficult to cary out without a computer.”

• I Can Hear You

  My students are now used to working independently. After the pandemic, all students had to learn to work through Zoom. Now that we have come back there are courses in my classroom that students work on independently.

  Noise can be very distracting. I teach in a continuation high school and like in many continuations I have to teach several courses at the same time. I am a math credentialed teacher but I also teach some Spanish courses that are mostly online. These headphones requested are very useful for those students who work independently to cancel out noise so that other students don't hear the content of their lesson.”

• Keeping It Cool

  My students need an extra push to remain active academically in the classroom. Many times I have to use incentives to maintain their interest.

  When students excel academically, they deserve to be rewarded.

  When my students complete their classwork and go above and beyond I reward them with a ticket that if they can accumulate 3 of them they can trade them in for drinks and goodies during lunch time. The ice coolers that we are requesting are used to hold drinks and keep them cold so that when students come and trade in their tickets for drinks they won't get warm drinks.

  I teach in a continuation high school and many of my students work on independent courses, while I provide support to them while they work many of them need more of an incentive to get their courses completed. When my students have completed a course they receive a $25 gift card, when they complete a second course they receive a $5 Starbucks card.”

• Together We Are Strong

  My school is in a community of immigrants and many recent immigrants. most of my students have contact with or know of recent immigrants. Although this is well known in the community there is still a disconnect that is visible in the school environment from the students who were born here than from the recent immigrants. We have created a project across the curriculum in which students will be grouped in a way in which at least one of the group members is a recent immigrant. They are learning about each other's way of life and the struggles they have endured. We are doing all this in an effort to build community.

  These gift cards are helping them come together and in a different setting to get to know each other.”

• We Did It

  My students needed an extra push to remain active academically in the classroom. These gift cards have been used to provide students with an incentive to improve academics, behavior, and classroom engagement.

  When students excel academically and behaviorally, they deserve to be rewarded and by offering gift cards as incentives students have to maintained their academics and behavior.

  Thank you for helping my classroom with incentives to increase academic and behavioral engagement. Many of my students don't have the budget to go to many of these places therefore a gift card has been a great reward to them.”

• Play Time

  Funded May 28, 2023

  This year my students are into playing Monopoly and other board games during our lunch break. We have created a lunch club so that they can come in and play the games they enjoy. We keep track of the winners and we issue prizes and go to final rounds. The students are excited and this gives them a break from all the daily stress and work they have to do during the school day.

  We appreciate all the donations and help in getting this project funded for my students and their new game club. These games have made it more fun for our students.”
