Exercising Math Fluency Daily
Funded Apr 17, 2021Math is always a tough subject to teach, particularly with negative student attitudes toward it. The materials donated through this project have helped to create a more positive classroom experience with our daily math warmups that leads into a more productive math block as well.
My students were hesitant with using these materials at first because they have always thought math requires one right way to find one right answer. However, these materials have provided students with practice solving different types of problems with many different types of strategies. Rather than focusing on one correct way to work through a problem, these resources encourage students to share all different ways to solve problems. My students are finally starting to realize that the method of problem solving can be unique from person to person because our brains all work differently!
This project has helped my students begin to celebrate their unique problem solving skills and understand that math fluency doesn't have to look the same for everyone. This has created a much more positive environment for all math topics in my classroom, all thanks to these materials and your help in purchasing them!”

Funded Dec 1, 2020Getting this project funded was so beneficial in creating a solid classroom community in the midst of virtual learning. Three school years have now been affected by this pandemic and students need positive connections with teachers and peers now more than ever. The items donated through this project were able to help build relationships in my classroom that students needed so badly.
When students were gifted the items from this project, it was one of the first times I had met them in person, despite our countless hours of interaction through computer screens. Students were overjoyed to have that experience. I received nothing but positive feedback from parents after delivering these materials and in the weeks that followed I could see the positive affect it had on my students' attitude firsthand.
Building relationships in a classroom setting is fundamental for student success. During this pandemic, this particular part of teaching has changed the most. In such uncertain times, your generosity made it possible for me to overcome hurdles and provide my students with the connections they craved. Thank you so much for everything!”

Funded Sep 17, 2021Thank you so much for helping to bring diversity to my classroom library. My students will be able to gain a deeper understanding of the world around them and perspectives different than their own, thanks to your support. Both my students and I are very grateful for people like you!”

Funded Aug 11, 2020This school year has been so unique and so tough in a multitude of ways. With this funded project I was able to provide enough materials for my students to work individually on things they would have typically done with partners or small groups. Having physical materials in front of them has been invaluable this spring after many months of comprehensive distance learning.
Though we have had to tweak how games are used in the classroom to maintain physical distancing, the excitement and engagement when games are involved in the classroom has not changed. When I pull out brightly colored board games to practice a math topic, my students cheer with enthusiasm. These materials provide a welcome change of pace to our typical lessons and result in a much higher level of student enthusiasm on topics that often provoke groans.
We will continue to supplement our lessons with educational games where we can as the year goes on, and for years to come as well! I cannot express how much this project being funded meant to me and my students. Without it we would have struggled to find ways to make this school year fun and interesting while still progressing with our academics.”
