Big Minds Reading en Español
Funded Aug 10, 2023After receiving the books that you kindly provided, I was thrilled to observe my students' reactions. They were absolutely delighted with the books. It was a heartwarming sight to see their faces light up with excitement and anticipation as they flipped through the pages. The books are of high quality, with colorful and vivid illustrations that are perfectly suited for their age group. The content of the books is also top-notch, as some of my students were able to recognize and identify the vocabulary used in the stories. This is a testament to the excellent quality of the books and the thoughtfulness that went into selecting them. Once again, thank you for your generosity in providing these books for my students.
The help that my students have provided has been invaluable, and I am incredibly grateful for their contribution. As young children in transitional kindergarten, their minds are constantly evolving and developing with each passing day. Their innate curiosity and willingness to learn have been a source of inspiration for me as an educator. By providing them with age-appropriate books, I have noticed that their confidence levels have increased, and they are more enthusiastic about reading. Additionally, when they complete their work early, they are excited to grab a book and engage with the content, which is a great sign of their growing interest in reading.
Your contribution has been incredibly valuable to me and my students, and I cannot express my gratitude enough. With the resources you have provided, my students have been able to access new books and educational materials they may not have had otherwise. Your generosity has had a profound impact on their learning experience, and I am confident that it will inspire them to continue reading and learning throughout their lives. Your kindness has truly made a difference, and I am deeply grateful for your support.”

Funded Mar 30, 2023During our lessons, I provided my students with a vast array of information related to Venezuela. Through engaging discussions, we explored critical aspects of the country's culture, history, and society and focused on dispelling common stereotypes. Additionally, we analyzed and compared situations that took place in both Venezuela and the United States, which helped my students gain a deeper appreciation and comprehension of the world we live in. As a result, my students were able to expand their vocabulary and broaden their knowledge and understanding of Venezuela.
Throughout our Venezuela unit, my students had the opportunity to expand their knowledge not only of the country but also of its rich history and culture. To enhance their reading and speaking skills, we conducted group discussions on various topics covered in the book. Each student was given a copy of the book to take home, which helped them monitor their progress and set individualized learning goals. This approach encouraged students to take greater ownership of their learning and motivated them to read even more. As a result, we saw significant improvements in both their comprehension and their confidence in discussing complex topics.
Throughout our lessons, we implemented various reading activities to cater to different learning styles. These activities included small group reading sessions, as well as whole group reading sessions where students had the opportunity to read aloud and discuss the text as a class. Additionally, students were given the freedom to read on their own and at their own pace.
One of the topics that we explored during our reading sessions was Venezuela. Many of my students were captivated by the new information they learned about the country and were eager to compare and contrast the words used in Venezuela and their language. They were so enthusiastic about the topic that they frequently took notes and asked a lot of questions, which resulted in a more in-depth and rewarding experience for everyone involved.”
