I am requesting materials that will make a difference in the day to day activities in the life of a first grader. These are basic supplies that we will need to get the year started and make a daily impact. Not only will it make learning more effective, but inviting and appealing. The first grade classroom can be a noisy and entertaining place. Students need computer headphones to be able to concentrate and focus. I routinely use tabletop chart pads and chart markers to colorfully display anchor charts for math, reading, and writing concepts. Students need sticky notes to organize writing and respond to text. We use dry erase boards and markers for students to participate in small group and whole group learning activities with immediate response and feedback. Following these months of virtual learning, I am preparing for the following school year to make my class room welcoming and operational for the next group of students. These supplies are often donated by students families or purchased by using PTA funds. However, with the present crisis it is unlikely that we will receive the same resources. I would like to give this next set of students the same opportunity for a successful school experience.
