  • Sharp and Clean

    Funded Apr 17, 2025

We are so excited to move forward with sharp pencils and a clean classroom. I am amazed at how well all of our students draw and write, especially since when our school year strarted, only about a fourth of the class was able to do a little writing.

Your help is much appreciated. We will be sure to post photos of our new items in use. Thanks again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kris

  • Focus with Fidgets

    Funded Apr 8, 2024

Our students are thriving with the materials purchased for this project. We are able to have calm safe spaces that are inviting and provide joy. Our students are able to walk over to find a fidget they enjoy and to use it to help provide them a way to focus their energy and move their body in an acceptable way while we are learning.

Finding ways for our students to self-regulate was challenging until we were able to boost our environmental options with these materials that are inviting and fun.

    We truly appreciate your gift.”

  • Brown Bear Books Boost Brain Development

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

What an amazing surprise for our students! Kids will love having their own copy of brown bear to hold while we read the story. Having the other items we are able to add to our learning environment will engage students who normally focus on play. Thank you for your help!”

  • Translucent Table Top Explorations

    Funded Dec 1, 2023

Our students have really become interested in using some of the materials we were already using in a new way. I am happy to report that looking for letters is a new favorite activity which rates right up there with playing with toys. This is exactly what we were hoping for.

We are able to incorporate some sensory materials also which is very calming for students while they are using the light table. The container that holds items is super heavy duty and easy to use and move. Students are able to help with this.

We are also now doing more writing using the light table. Using white board markers is fun to see and I am happy to supply more markers for use in an extra area in our classroom. Our students are building their fine motor skills, literacy and social emotional skills all with this one great project coming to our classroom. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

  • Learners Look at Lots of Lovable Literature

    Funded Sep 6, 2023

We are using our new book shelves to help us locate and use books daily. It's so fun to see and hear the excitement of our students as they "read" book about each thing we are discussing daily.

Our students light up as we can easily pull out our books that are about things that are important to them when they bring them up. We have been working on showing students how to put books back so we can find them again when we want to read more. Having students look for letters and use literacy skills is a very natural way to help them learn!

We are no longer wondering where the books about penguins and other animals are as we talk about them. We can walk right over and locate our books immediately. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kris

We go outside every day for at least 30 minutes for active learning as long as the wind chill is not dangerous. Our students look forward to this but do not usually have the warm clothing necessary to go outside to play. Our program is income-based and our families qualify for free preschool. During our school day, we provide snowpants, boots and mittens for students to use outside. In order to do this, we collect items from friends and family as their children outgrow them and we wrote a grant 12 years ago to pay for some gear. The items students wear are breaking down due to years of play. We have repaired as much as we can but look forward to replenishing our supplies so that all students can run, play, and learn every day in Minnesota! While outside, our students build social-emotional skills, become physically stonger, play creatively together, and can use their voices in a way that they cannot while we are inside. We discover shadows and butterflies, learn about the seasons changing according to the trees, and race and play games. Our students also play in the sand area and snow creating their own castles and imaginary worlds and use the climbing equipment. Because we live in Minnesota, often we wear boots, mittens, and snowpants between November and April so that outside is an extension of our classroom.
