Providing my students with books to read will help them continue to learn at home in a more engaging way. The variety of books I am requesting will allow me to differentiate according to reading level and interest, thereby reaching each unique and individual student in the class. I am also requesting a class size amount of one book so that we can read together - both a bonding and learning experience for all. Continuing to build their reading fluency and comprehension skills is crucial for their continued academic success. Reading is a fundamental skill that 3rd graders need to be proficient in as they move on to 4th grade. Reading is essential to learning they will do throughout 4th grade and this skill will continue on with them throughout their lives. Help me to continue to engage my students in meaningful learning that will propel them on to goal achieving success in 4th grade. During the pandemic, students will be able to pick up the books and assignments from the school meal pick-up site from which most students have been regularly picking up meals every three days. I would like to use these books for distance-learning book groups with differentiated texts at the students' level, thereby increasing motivation and reading fluency, even while we are all at home. Due to my students' limited internet access, having a physical book would be beneficial for their continued learning during the pandemic.
