Help me give my students a book we can read together that teaches five important life skills based on the acronym, MAGIC! My fourth graders attend an amazing, PK-5, Title I, Capturing Kids Hearts National Showcase school with the majority of my students coming from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds which ultimately affects the way they learn. My students are a dynamic group of young ladies and gentlemen and their passion and enthusiasm for coming to class each day is contagious.
These students walk into class each day with a smile on their face and are always sure to welcome not only me but the rest of the students in the class. We work very hard on manners and treating others with kindness. I am always implementing new ideas and best practices in my classroom to teach my students not only the academic content but how to be a better citizen and person overall. So, after attending the Get Your Teach On National Conference, I knew that I wanted to start the next school year off differently. During the conference, I met two of the most innovative educators; Hope and Wade King, authors of both books 'The Wild Card', teaching teachers creativity, and 'The Wild Card Kids Journey to Magic', to teach students five important life skills through the acronym MAGIC. I immediately read both books and was inspired to change things up. Back to school will look and feel so different for my students next year. I would love to get a copy of this book for all of my students to read together to help them become not only better students...but better people in and out of the classroom.
