  • A Rug in Time Saves Circle Time

    Funded Nov 16, 2021

Your generosity for this project is so greatly appreciated!

Thank you for being a steward of education. Children need caring comfortable spaces in which to learn and you have provided that for 23 first grade students. Please know that every lesson and activity that takes place on this large beautiful rug will take these students one step closer to being caring and respectful second graders. The skills they learn working with others and participating in read aloud with me on the big rug are so important especially after a year in which they spent their learning time at home in front of a tablet.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kerr

  • Flexible and Fun Seating

    Funded Jun 9, 2020

The floor chairs and desks for my project you helped fund have been a big hit with my students. With this last year being a year of constant changes, my original plan had to be adjusted to meet the Covid-19 distancing protocols. Students were able to use the seating separately in different parts of the room. With students spending much of the year learning virtually and not sitting at conventional desks, the chairs served as a more comfortable alternative as they adjusted back to daily classroom learning. Students looked forward to their turn sitting in the soft chairs in the floor. I truly appreciate every single dollar that was donated to help to help fund this project.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kerr

My students would be excited to have more flexible seating choices. Children love to move around. That is who they are in the journey of childhood. During our reading block of time, we have learning stations through which students rotate. My students can choose to sit on the rug or a pillow while they practice reading for fluency and stamina, to explore a new book of their choosing from my classroom library, or complete an assignment from one of the word work or writing stations. These floor chairs and desks would provide a comfortable and fun place for students to do station work or independent reading. Let's face it students need fun in their day. Colorful alternative seating spaces add that fun for them while giving comfortable back support as well. I know that my students would look forward to their turn to use these new floor chairs and desks. Thank you!
