As a school counselor, I do not have the allocated funds to provide materials for my students. I want to make sure our students receive as many tools and supports as possible with the learning resources they need. They are such amazingly resilient and inspirational students. At one of the elementary schools, I run several small groups as well as get to read and teach in classrooms about mental health and positive coping strategies, and I teach these skills using fun visual and artistic ways to help students learn about these important skills. I use the same methods in teaching students about emotions, what they are, and how to process them. I use a lot of art therapy in my small groups and obtain these products mostly by finding good deals in the stores. I want our students to have access and up to date materials so they can learn the best way they can. When working with the little's, I use a lot of illustrated books and have found several amazing counseling book series on amazon. I have purchased some of the books and my students really love them and have benefited from them so much. After I read to the students, I ask them what is one thing they learned in the book and then I challenge them to use these skills until I see them the following week. Please help me get the learning resources these students need. Thank you so much for hearing our little story!
