Listen and Hear With Your Heart
Funded May 24, 2024I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the laptop that has been provided to me and to share the profound impact it has had on my work as an educational audiologist. The role of an educational audiologist is crucial in ensuring that students with hearing impairments have equal access to education, and this laptop has significantly enhanced my ability to serve these students effectively.
The laptop has become an indispensable tool in several aspects of my work:
1. Assessment and Data Management: The laptop allows me to efficiently manage and analyze the auditory test data of my students. I can use specialized software to perform hearing assessments, track progress, and adjust interventions in real-time. This has streamlined my workflow and enabled me to provide timely support to students who need it most.
2. Collaboration and Communication: With the laptop, I can easily collaborate with teachers, speech-language pathologists, and parents. I can share audiograms, reports, and recommendations instantly, ensuring that everyone involved in a student's education is on the same page. This has led to more cohesive support plans and better outcomes for the students.
3. Access to Resources and Continuing Education: The laptop has provided me with access to a wealth of online resources, including research articles, webinars, and professional development courses. This has allowed me to stay current with the latest advancements in audiology and incorporate new strategies into my practice, ultimately benefiting my students.
4. Virtual Support: During periods when in-person interaction was limited, the laptop enabled me to provide remote consultations and support to students and their families. I was able to conduct virtual assessments, offer guidance on hearing aid use, and ensure that students continued to receive the support they needed, even from a distance.
5. Student Engagement and Support: The laptop has also been a vital tool in creating and sharing educational materials tailored to the needs of my students. I can develop interactive lessons and visual aids that are accessible and engaging, helping students with hearing impairments to fully participate in the classroom.
In conclusion, the implementation of my laptop in programming hearing aids and developing educational activities has had a far-reaching and positive impact on my students. This technology has enhanced my ability to provide high-quality, individualized support that directly improves their access to education and communication. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to use this tool, as it has allowed me to better serve the students who rely on these services for their success in and out of the classroom.
Thank you for your support and for recognizing the importance of integrating technology into educational audiology services.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Young Sheldon on CBS and 7 other donors.Helping the Hearing Impaired children in NYC
Funded Jan 23, 2021I can not thank you enough for the donation you provided to my students and I. The laptop and scanner I purchased lets me help my students by programming hearing aids and assisstive listening technology (such as FM systems) which helps my students hear better.
I have also been able to zoom live with parents of the students who are remote learning and the classroom teachers of the students which are in school. I can help them trouble shoot problems that occur with the assisstive listening devices, where I can watch them to see that they are following my instructions and I can also show them exactly what they need to do.
The scanner which I purchased helped me load a lot of different information into my google classroom. I uploaded games which I play with my students, which teaches them skills in speech reading, lip reading and anatomy of the ear, etc. My students love going into the google classroom and choosing different things to do or read.”
With gratitude,
