Completing the 2019-2020 school year remotely revealed real hardships for many of my students. Food insecurity and lack of adequate childcare was just the beginning. I was humbled to learn that many students lacked even the most basic resources for remote learning. Along with parents lacking technology skills, there were no school supplies on hand and a designated learning spots were mostly non-existent. Providing lap desks will help level the learning playing field for some of our most vulnerable students. For those fortunate enough to have a kitchen table or desk, this could be the flexible seating that they need to focus on a Zoom or homework. For others, this could help establish the designated learning spot that sets the stage for their home learning success. The storage compartment will also help with needed organizational skills.
