  • We Love Exploring

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you again for your generosity and support of our classroom environment and it's young learners. This year the class has many children who are often curious about their environment. They love to explore how various objects work and their properties. The students have loved using the scale to compare the weights of different dinosaurs and then weighing various objects. The droppers have helped us explore various liquids and experiment with amounts of liquid and pressure. We haven't gotten a chance to use all of the materials, yet but we are working on being scientists this month and will definitely continue to use the new materials in our explorations.”

  • To Read or to Play? How About Both!

    Funded Sep 7, 2022

Thank you again for your time and generosity! The children have loved having much needed materials and books to engage with throughout the day. The sand has made our sensory table so much more fun. Children live the texture of the sand and that they are able to mold it to create different shapes and structures. The books your donation helped us to purchase have made teaching about friendship, and how to grow and work together in the classroom easier and much more fun. The students have been reading and rereading the books over and over.”

  • Reading: Inspiration, Joy and Learning!

    Funded Mar 1, 2022

Books have been an integral part of our daily routines. Children read as soon as they come into the classroom, during our morning meeting to introduce and support concepts we are learning, during centers, before quiet time, during lunch, after quiet time and before we go home. When we start to read their eyes light up and It seems like they are transported into whatever story we are reading together. It has been so fun to have books with characters of different ages, genders, animals and make believe creatures. My favorite is when I see children pick up Ake want to reread books we've read together or when they retell a story and play "teacher". Books are truly magical!”

  • WHEN WE PLAY, WE LEARN!

    Funded Jan 4, 2022

With your generosity our play time has been even more fun. We're able to explore, pretend, and learn new skills everyday. It has been great to have such a variety of activities because everyone's interest is so different. Thank you for the tub of animals. We've been using them everyday. We talk about how they live and use a world map to show where they can live. We build homes for them and sort them into different categories. We're also loving the drill set. It has been great at teaching us how to use a drill and it helps to strengthen our hand muscles, which will help us with writing later.”

  • Play, Explore, Create

    Funded Oct 6, 2021

All of the toys and activities have been amazing to have in the classroom. While the school ordered materials, many of them still have not gotten to the school. Thanks to your donations the children have had access to toys and activities that encourage imagination, language and exploration. They are asking questions, engaging with each other and exploring their personal interests. It has been great for me to see their skills in different domains when they have a variety of play materials. I am able to use their engagement to create more opportunities throughout the day.”

  • Love to Read

    Funded Oct 17, 2021

Thank you again for your generosity and thoughtfulness. Having so many amazing books in our classroom has made a tremendous difference in student engagement and motivation in reading. We have also been able to engage families by inviting them to use the books for virtual read alouds and reading to the class in Spanish. The children have been able to see themselves through the the characters - both in their experiences and physically. The variety of topics makes it helpful for me to pair books that really show and tell the students about what we're learning.”

  • Create - Learn - Inspire

    Funded May 4, 2021

Thank you so much for your time and generosity!!! The kids and families were really surprised and extremely great full!! We spent a lot of our year talking about and looking at nature by going on virtual field trips and reading lot of books. Our students were always wanting to learn more and thrived on hands on projects, even when we made them at home and shared through online presentations and photos. The growing kits and books were the perfect way to end a challenging year of online learning.”

  • Reading: Inspiration, Joy and Love OF Learning!

    Funded Jul 24, 2020

Thank you for your time and donation!!! My class has been fully remote this school year. It has been challenging in many ways however having a variety of books available to me on a daily basis has been amazing. We have daily read alouds and for a while I was putting on other teachers reading books on YouTube. With your donation I was able to purchase actual books and I have been able to expose students to many topics ranging from the beauty of hijabs to loving the skin that we're in. Many times students ask for the stories to be reread which really makes me smile.

    So thank you again!!!!!”

  • New Way of Learning = New Materials

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

Thank you again for your time and generosity. With the help of your donations I was able to purchase and provide many different resources for the students in my class. First of all The Teachers Pay Teacher gift card went a long way. I was able to buy games, support tools and teacher resources that I use on a daily basis. In the photos you can see the students playing math games and practicing other math skills using the activities I was able to buy and adapt to their learning needs. I was also able to use the clear plastic bins to make individual math resource kits for each student. They are filled with everything that the students need and use on a daily basis during our morning math routines and math lessons. The folders with plastic clear sleeves have been so helpful for students to have reusable support materials such as ten frames, counting the days of school template, summarizing worksheets and other writing resources to be used at home. Finally the paint sets have been the highlight for our class. They are in love with watercolors and we have been painting on a weekly basis.

I am so thankful for having this support and I know that the students are also.”

Having access to books and the opportunity to be creative on a daily basis will provide students with motivation to engage in other daily "class" activities during this online learning experience. We have noticed that even with daily access to online reading resources - students are not able to access certain sites due to lack of technological resources and due to having multiple children in the home. Nothing beats having a book in your hand and being able to come back to it again and again. When children are able to express themselves through art, they are more likely to enjoy other parts of learning. While academic progress is important for children, it does not occur without motivation and confidence. I believe that having art supplies and books provide children with daily opportunities to explore stories and characters and express their ideas through art! Engaging in art activities also provides emotional support and a way for children to express themselves in different ways. I know they will be very appreciative!
