For English Learners, it is essential that they are given many opportunities to collaborate and converse with their peers about what they're learning in school content-wise in order to full understand the material, but it also allows them to develop their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills while learning a new language. However, COVID has not allowed for this and the students have struggled as a result, which is why we desperately need these resources to give them the experience they deserve to have. In my class, there are 35 English Learners, and many of them have been dealt a tough hand and have come from many different countries to make a better life for themselves and to learn about the American way of life. Therefore, as their teacher and mentor, I try to use group activities that will give them the practice they need. The conversation cubes, timers, chart paper, bins, etc, will be utilized to spark discussions about the students' different cultures and backgrounds or the texts that we'll be working on. In addition, the items like the notebooks, folders, and calculators will be given to students who are not able to purchase these due to a lack of funding. They will be so, so appreciative!
