Magnificent Builds with Magna-Tiles!
Funded Dec 13, 2022Thank you for allowing my students the opportunity to build and create while learning about animal habitats! The new Magna-Tile habitat sets have been an exciting addition to my Habitat Science Unit. Each week my students work towards 'Fun Friday" which typically includes a STEM/STEAM challenge. For this particular unit, if students earned Fun Friday they were able to enjoy table-top centers. One center required a build challenge--replicating an habitat. The students were beyond excited to see the new Magna-Tile sets and the included animals! So much so that I have had several students and parents ask me where I purchased them from because they want to have them at home! Additionally, other classes were able to utilize the other Magna-Tile sets such as the one with wheels (loved creating moving "vehicles") and the barn during their Fun Friday! The new sets have definitely been a big hit in my classroom! I teach PreK-5th grade and am so pleased that ALL my students, no matter age or ability, can participate and create with these sets! Thank you!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Optimum and one other donor. On a Roll With Roller Coasters!
Funded Apr 7, 2022Thank you for donating to my classroom! This year had some challenges with me falling and breaking my ankle pretty badly. Unfortunately, I was out of the classroom for months but was so excited to finally make it back! This project was something I was definitely looking forward to and couldn't wait to complete with my students!
My students were beyond excited to see the roller coaster kits! Once we began our unit on "Height Energy", they knew they were going to actually "build" their own roller coaster at the end of the week. It was something they definitely looked forward to!
The building kits provided an opportunity for my students to collaborate and work together. They had a great time combining their "brain power" and new knowledge (for example, first hill is always the tallest), to create a unique and fun roller coaster design. After each group finished, they were able to present their roller coaster to the class and demonstrate using the small roller coaster car provided with the kit. They had a blast showing off their creations and were super proud of their coasters!
Thank you for providing my students with this learning opportunity!”
