• Back to Basics!

  My project "Back to Basics" asked for the basic utensils needed such as pencils, erasers, highlighters, etc. We immediately used all the supplies donated! When my students helped me open the box with all the supplies they were so happy and excited because we needed pencils badly. I had bought the students pencils but they lose them almost daily and we had just run out. Your generosity makes our everyday school life a possibility. Thank you again for putting children first and keeping us in your thoughts.”

• Excited to Read

  We love to read! I always enjoyed reading as a child and I wanted to instill the love of books to my students. Well what better way than Scholastic News. This magazine is full of interesting, colorful and exciting literature. My students are more than excited when they receive their magazine weekly. We also have digital access and can listen to videos that come with the stories in each magazine. The magazine also provided extra-curricular activities for my students which they absolutely love. In my classroom, reading is a "fun" time where we get to explore while learning. Thank you so much for this amazing opportunity we were able to enjoy because of your generosity!”

• New Comfortable Seating

  My students use our new beautiful chairs on a daily basis. Our classroom looks luxurious with the new chairs that were donated to us. They were amazed to see them when they first arrived! There eyes open up and they were eager to be the first to sit on the chairs. No other classroom has the same chairs as we do so our classroom stands out. The chairs we had before were broken with broken pieces, the new chairs are definitely a set up. Looking ahead, I would love it if we had a whole new classroom full of new comfortable seating.”

• Listen to Learn

  This simple but effective piece of technology has made a world of difference in my classroom. The children are able to listen to anything on their computer without interrupting their learning. The new headphones are amazing! The students absolutely enjoy the fact that they have new headphones that they can speak into and are heavy duty as well. They love that each one has their own set and they do not have to share with anybody else. They feel special because no other classroom has the same "fancy" headphones that we have. Thank you for making them feel special!”

• Time for Kids

  My students are curious! They are constantly asking me questions about many different subjects. Time for Kids has given them the opportunity to read about new topics while making learning fun. This magazine provided up to date information at a 2nd grade reading level. Last week, my students learned about the Titanic as well as Morse code and they sent the entire week sending me messages using Morse code. My job was to decode their messages. Reading is a daily activity in my classroom. I alternate between reading to the kids and having them read to me but either way they enjoy to read. I also let them choose books for them to read during independent time. Thank you so much for your donation which gave each student a copy of Time for Kids magazine.”

• Online Learning

  We have been going through so many changes this school year but as a teacher I have tried to do the best for my students. One of the first things I requested through Donors Choose were headphones for the students to use during online learning. My students use computers on a daily basis to log into the zoom meetings, use reading or math programs and complete assignments. Technology has helped my students tremendously because it has given kids access to learning. The donated headphones were used constantly and gave my students the opportunity to use their computers without interrupting others. I want to thank you on behalf of my 2nd grade class for your generosity.”

• Reading Adventure

  Funded May 30, 2020

  We have not been able to return to school physically as of the beginning of the school year so we have not been able to enjoy all the wonderful games and resources you purchased for us. I showed the games to my class virtually and I know they were extremely excited to see them. They can's wait to be able to go back into the classroom to use the games.
