I am fortunate to teach in a district that was very generous in purchasing wonderful books for our classroom libraries. However, my classroom is in need of bookshelves to hold these books. The bookshelves I currently have are being used by my students. They use these bookshelves to hold their book boxes, headphones, folders, and whiteboards. Unfortunately, those bookshelves are falling apart. Along with teaching core subjects, organization and responsibility are essential skills we also teach in kindergarten. My goal would be for my students to have a classroom library that is easy to access and to replace the old, broken bookshelves with something that is sturdy and can help keep my kinders organized.
