Bring Color to My Classroom!
Funded Nov 18, 2020Thank you so much for the donation of the color printer to my classroom! It has greatly helped our students make the most of their virtual learning environment. Your donation of the printer has made it so that I can send home visual and communication supports. I am also able to send color print outs of assignments so that they can follow along on the paper and complete the work on the printout instead of virtually. Printouts are usually more accessible to my students than having to navigate many of the digital resources. I shared pictures with the donors of completed work materials that the students have brought back to class, as well as visuals of the materials I was able to create to implement positive behavioral interventions at home (the star chart and the schedule visuals). I also included a picture comparing the black and white pictures to the new color pictures and how much of a difference there is. It is a lot easier to read the color visuals, which facilitates the overall communication as this is the primary method for many of the students. The materials sent home now belong to the students and can be kept at home to continue using even after a return to campus. I was also able to print out some of the classroom rules and a lot more visual supports in color and display them in the classroom as we prepare for a few of the students to return to campus within the next week. These will help with structuring the day, expectations, and facilitate communication as we ease into a little bit of normalcy during this challenging time.
Thank you for helping bring color to my classroom.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Alex
Create a Calming Corner
Funded Jun 23, 2020Thank you so much for your incredible, generous donation to our classroom. Our students have not been in school since March of 2020 and we are hoping for a return early 2021, making it almost an entire year of being out of a typical classroom setting. I am confident that I have appropriate materials to provide the students with opportunities to take breaks and regulate their feelings should they become overwhelmed or overstimulated by the classroom demands.
These sensory supports allow us the flexibility to give the students breaks in the manner that is best suited to their individual needs. Some students may need to take a break on a beanbag in a corner of the classroom with the tiles, while others may just need the sensory break with the color tiles at their desks. Other students may also need to touch the sensory materials and explore them for a while, as in the case of the sensory materials placed on the whiteboard. Thank you for your incredible donation, and please accept these current pictures to show my gratitude. I have shared these pictures with the students on ZOOM, and they are excited to return to school and have their own space available. Once students return and are accessing the materials, I would be happy to share even more colorful and busy photos with students in the pictures, exploring and making use of these materials.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Alex
