  • One Sweet Planet: A Tasty Earth Day Tale

    Funded Apr 28, 2025

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for fully funding our Donors Choose project! Because of your generosity, my students will soon be enjoying a sweet treat of chocolates and a cozy, meaningful story time all about our incredible planet Earth.

This isn’t just a one-time celebration; your gift helps us show students that Earth Day is every day. Through engaging stories and thoughtful conversations, they’ll learn how to care for our planet in big and small ways, building habits that last a lifetime.

Your support goes far beyond the items you helped fund. You’ve sparked curiosity, joy, and environmental awareness in our classroom.

From me and all of my students, thank you for believing in us, supporting our learning, and making a lasting difference.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Webb

  • STAR Explorers: Future Scientists at Work!

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity in funding our DonorsChoose project! Because of you, my STAR Explorers STEM girl's club now has lab coats, goggles, notebooks, and pencils to immerse themselves in hands-on science experiments fully. The excitement in the room when they put on their lab gear for the first time was electric. One student proudly said, "I feel like a real scientist now!" That moment alone made it clear how much of an impact your support has had.

For many of these girls, this is their first time experiencing science in such a real and tangible way. Having the right gear gives them the confidence to step into the role of a scientist, ask big questions, and dive into experiments without hesitation. They're already filling their notebooks with observations, sketching out ideas, and making predictions with so much enthusiasm.

One of the things they're most excited about is tie-dyeing their lab coats and personalizing them. Not only will they get to express themselves creatively, but they'll also learn about chemical reactions in the process. Science should be engaging, fun, and hands-on, and now, thanks to you, they get to experience that fully.

We've already started experimenting, and these girls are stepping up in ways that are inspiring to see. They're thinking critically, working together, and growing more confident in their abilities with every activity. Seeing them so engaged and passionate about science makes it clear that they belong in STEM. Your donation didn't just provide supplies it gave them a sense of belonging and the tools to see themselves as future scientists, engineers, and innovators.

Representation and access to opportunities like this matter. Because of your support, my girls feel empowered, capable, and excited about their future in STEM. Thank you for believing in them and for making this experience possible. We appreciate you more than words can say!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Webb

  • The STEM-U-lating Classroom

    Funded Oct 30, 2024

I am thrilled to share the impact your contributions have had on our classroom through the "STEM-U-lating Classroom" project. Your generosity has provided us with an array of engaging tools that have ignited curiosity and fostered hands-on learning among my students.

    Utilization of New Resources:

Hands-On Lightning Rod: This interactive tool has allowed students to explore the fundamentals of electricity and circuits. In a recent project, students formed a human chain to conduct electricity, illuminating a bulb at the end. This tangible demonstration of electrical principles made the concept both accessible and memorable.

EISCO Super Taster Test Kit: With this kit, students delved into the science of genetics and taste. They conducted experiments to determine their sensitivity to certain compounds, leading to insightful discussions about genetic variation and human biology.

Scotch 5" Soft Touch Blunt Tip Kids Scissors: These scissors have become an essential tool in our daily activities. From crafting projects to cutting out components for science experiments, they have enabled students to work safely and efficiently.

Big Joe Dorm Bean Bag Chair: The addition of this comfortable seating has created a cozy reading nook in our classroom. Students eagerly take turns sitting in the bean bag chair during independent reading sessions, enhancing their engagement and love for literature.

Golmart Balance Bird Gravity Set: This set has been a hit among students exploring the principles of physics. They experimented with balancing the birds on various surfaces, gaining a hands-on understanding of the center of gravity and equilibrium.

Owl Pellet Study Classroom Kit: Students were fascinated by the opportunity to dissect owl pellets. This activity provided a window into the diets and habitats of owls, enriching our study of ecosystems and food chains.

    Student Reactions:

The excitement was palpable when the materials arrived. Students' eyes lit up as they unboxed each item, eager to explore and learn. One student exclaimed, "This is the best day ever!" Their enthusiasm has translated into increased participation and a deeper interest in STEM subjects.”

  • The "Ribbiting" Frog Dissection Project

    Funded May 17, 2024

My students absolutely loved the frog dissection project! This activity has been something they have been eagerly asking to do for a while, and it exceeded their expectations. Though some were initially weirded out, their curiosity quickly took over as they engaged with the hands-on experience of learning about anatomy in a way that no textbook could replicate. The combination of excitement and fascination created an unforgettable learning environment. I could see their confidence grow as they worked through identifying organs and making connections to what we learned in class. This project is bound to be a core memory for them, sparking interest in science and anatomy that I hope will last for years to come.

What's even more exciting is that students in the lower grades have heard about the project and are already asking if they'll get to participate when they reach my class. The buzz this project has generated shows how impactful hands-on learning can be, not just for current students but also for those looking forward to future lessons. Thanks to your support, this frog dissection has not only enriched my students' understanding of science but has also inspired younger students to be excited about the science opportunities that await them!”

  • Remote Learning Supplies

    Funded Apr 17, 2020

On the behalf of my students and myself, we would like to thank you for your generous donation. The funds you've donated allowed me to get supplies that put smiles on all of my students' faces, and in these current times that's super important!

I serve a title I school therefore, many of my students lack basic school supplies at home. And when my school announced that we would be conducting remote learning, I knew I had to do something for my students so that they would be prepared for this transition. The pencils, markers, and paper have come in handy with my students who don't have computers or their computer is malfunctioning. And the snacks come in really handy as a nice treat after they've been in class all day long.

My school was awesome enough to allow me to do home visits and drop the "Goody Bags" off to my students. The day before the home visit I informed my students that I would be coming to their homes with "Goody Bags". I wish I would have recorded their reactions because it was priceless. They were all extremely excited and couldn't wait to use their supplies.

Currently my students are making 3D/poster cell models. I know for a fact that they will be using the supplies, especially the markers, to complete this project.

Once again I thank you for your amazing donation. I am truly grateful for individuals and organizations that lends a helping hand.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Webb

As a biology major, a former microbiologist who worked in a pharmaceutical plant, and now a proud middle school science teacher I know what it takes to succeed in the dynamic field of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S.T.E.M). Microscopes are one of the most fundamental tools that a scientist "my students" will use. My students must have access to basic science equipment as well as the know-how to properly use and handle the equipment. Currently, there are not enough microscopes for my students, even if they partner up. Providing my students with at least three more microscopes will allow them to explore the wonderful world of microbes, hopefully igniting a flame to pursue a career in S.T.E.M. As a donor, you have the power to help inspire young minds who will have a positive effect in the world of S.T.E.M.
