Prior to the school shut down, students in my technology class were learning to use Tinkercad and Sculpt software to design objects and characters. The designs can be downloaded and printed out on a 3d printer. Our school does not have 3D printers but we were hopeful we would have them the following school year. One group of students contacted a school with 3D printers to ask them to print their design over a zoom call. It was an exciting experience for all. This got me thinking, I could do that with my students from home with a 3D printer that would come back to school with me when we return. I will assign students projects, they can share the project on a file with me and we can video call during the printing phase. When the prints are done, I will mail them the finished products.
