My classroom library could use a refresher. We are requesting popular, and grade level appropriate reading material. Our titles include Harry Potter, Tear of the Tiger, I Am Malala and BrownGirl Dreaming. All 120 of my kids are reading everyday, so we go through plenty of books. I want to continue to offer them books that are appealing, appropriately leveled, and have protagonists that they can relate to. Reading is the most powerful educational tool. At this age getting students to read frequently and consistently can be difficult. I have found that the easiest way to encourage a student to read is by offering them a book that they “just can’t put down”. All of my students are currently working on a 40 book challenge. Every one of them have read more books this year than they ever have. I want to continue this trend with your help!!
