This began as encouragement from our lead clerk. She was speaking with a seventh grader who was having difficulties acclimating to her new school., our school. Our clerk, who is artistically talented, as well as an avid skateboarder, asked the student if she would be interested in painting and putting together her own skateboard. The next thing we knew we had twenty seventh and eighth graders seeking ways to participate. Our students will foster a community of artists empowering themselves to use their talents as well as discover new ones. These seventh and eighth graders will use their creativity to design their own skateboards with the paint and brushes supplied, allowing them to navigate their emotions and 'cruise' through adolescence together.
