This year, with COVID and our restrictions upon sharing supplies, we are providing an initial starter kit to all art students; however, our needs far exceed our beginning kit! We would like to provide these tool kits so the rest of our budgeting can go to clay and other supplementary materials. Even if quarantine changes and we are able to go back to an in-person or hybrid model, it is still important for each student to have their own set of tools to avoid cross-contact. Regardless, while we are still at home, these tools would allow our students to engage in projects with more technical skills in ceramics. In this trying time, I want to be able to have long-distance education utilizing technology while still minimizing time spent in front of the screen. I know each student learns differently and I believe the sensory experience to be both entertaining and educational. Thank you to all students for your amazing dedication. Skills this kit would allow students to build include carving, sgraffito, anatomical sculpture, altered forms, staining, and texture. Most detailed skill-based with clay involves a set of tools and detailed oriented creative expression is vital for all students in their personal development and possible even in their career development. This is why I make this ask!
