Art for Cultural Exploration
Funded Aug 15, 2023The students and I were excited to have all of these amazing art supplies. Thank you so much for the opportunity to purchase all of these art supplies to allow students to explore cultures around the world. Your donations have reached so many students! I teach over 100 students daily, my Spanish club at the high school has over 30 members, and my elementary school after school club students range from 10-15 students each session!
The markers were used to create those beautiful Talavera Mexican "Tiles" for our holiday display. In the same photo you can see Christmas stockings that have been colored with the markers donated as well. Those stockings contain information about the various Spanish speaking countries and their Christmas traditions. We used the tissue paper I received to make flowers for our upcoming Valentine's Day fundraiser. Making paper flowers is a tradition in many Spanish speaking countries, especially Mexico. The tissue paper along with glue sticks are used to make pinatas which are a super fun way to explore Mexican culture.
Those are just some of the ways these art supplies were used. They are and will be used for countless future students.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Lucas
