High school students don't often have the opportunity to go on school trips to an art museum, nor do they have the chance to participate in an "imagineering" session in the style of Disney. (Fewer than one-third of my students have been on a field trip in high school.) Students spend their days in the classroom and then go to practice/ do homework/ go to their places of employment to help with family bills; sometimes their classwork doesn't show them the value of "trial and error" or "growth mindset," instead it focuses on memorization or practicing un-realistic problem sets. This trip would give them a chance to get out in "the world" and to see different styles of thinking and doing!
