Listen Up, Lobos!
Funded Dec 12, 2023I am so happy to have a set of headphones in my classroom. My students are listening to music and researching composers, playing games and listening to more music. It is a blessing to have these headphones dedicated to my classroom so students don't have to worry about bringing their own from their homeroom. The best part: the headphones are GOOD QUALITY and they work.
Beanbags have been used for fun activities working on steady beat and hand/eye coordination.
Thank you so much for your generosity. My students and I appreciate it very much!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mielke
Read and Write
Funded Feb 7, 2023I LOVE to read stories to my students and they LOVE to add instruments and music to the stories. One of our favorites is "Mortimer!" by Robert Munsch. LOTS of students get to play LOTS of instruments and we can all relate to Mortimer.
"Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" is a kindergarten favorite for teaching beat, repetition, and rhyme. It is catchy enough that even the shyest student will eventually join in. I use this one at the beginning of the school year and students engage easily with the fun pictures and easy beat.
Thank you for making these books available to my students and my classroom. One can never have too many books!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mielke

Funded Oct 10, 2022Thank you for supporting my project. We have not had a capital budget to purchase items for my classroom for several years, so your interest and support in this project are immeasurable. Thank you.
The first thing I used right out of the box were the rhythm sticks. I was able to replace my old splinter inducing ones with fresh new ones and we went right into using them in a singing activity from Ghana where we keep the beat and pass the sticks around the circle. The activity reinforces steady beat and team work. I describe it like a big gear that has to all work in synchronicity. The kids love it.
Next I used the staff lined boards and markers. These are an excellent material for students to write pitches on the staff, allowing them to practice and for me to quickly assess their progress without them feeling like they're taking yet another test. The fine point markers allow them to make their symbols accurately - and the erasers have replaced all the old socks and cut up t-shirts I used to use!
In the spring I plan to use the books as a springboard to ORFF instrument accompaniment My students enjoy stories and we bring them to life with some fun accompaniment. Thank you so much for supporting this project. The items might be small items, but they make a HUGE impact in my classroom.”

Funded Dec 23, 2020Thank you for making my project possible! I am so grateful for the materials I received. I immediately put the sit spots on my carpet and already have more ease at directing students. The students seem able to remember their number more easily than just a color on the dot.
The buzzers have been a HUGE hit with all my classes! Ringing in a correct answer has increased student engagement and brings an even higher level of FUN to my music room.
My 3rd graders are thriving while using the staff lined white boards and markers. I am able to have them practice drawing and identifying pitches.
Thank you again for providing these materials that allow extra FUN practice that enable students to really "lock in the learning."”

Ms. Mielke
