I want to foster reading informational text on a daily bases using Scholastic News Science Curriculum. The magazines will expose the students to various science topics that aren't taught in the science curriculum. These magazines will serve as a primary text to prepare for project based learning. By donating the classroom magazines you will promote the reading of nonfiction text, and provide additional science knowledge that they wouldn't receive. Students will engage in independent silent reading, discuss the text with their peers, make claims and provide evidence from the text to assist with science labs and engineering projects. The illustrations will be used to help create models/visual aids for their projects/labs.
