Currently we are attempting to get a gaming club off the ground and many of our students are interested in numerous switch games. The region has a pretty high amount of low-income students, and these students are looking for something to do after school, and when I started here I realized that there were no after school opportunities. I saw an opportunity to utilize my love of gaming as a way to give these students something to do after school, at least for one day a week. In addition, the just dance games are regularly utilized by the fitness/health classes as an alternative for outdoor activities on rainy days. While many people think of gaming as something that rots your brain, the few events we have already done are building strong relationships between many of our most at-risk students. These are the kids that are high risks for depression, dropout, and many other negative behaviors. I am asking for help in building a place where we can give these kids an outlet where school is seen as more than just a place they are forced to go, but a positive thing.
