Open a Book, Open a World: Building Our School Library
Funded Oct 4, 2024We are so grateful for your support in bringing new books to our school library. Your generous contributions have made a world of difference for our students, and I wanted to share with you just how impactful this project has been.
First and foremost, these new texts have introduced our students to a wide range of genres, themes, and writing styles that are sparking curiosity and engagement. Many of these books encourage critical thinking, empathy, and creativity. Students are learning to analyze story structure, explore character development, and understand different perspectives. The variety of books you helped provide has allowed us to introduce new vocabulary and concepts, making reading both an enjoyable and educational experience.
We have seen particular students who have truly blossomed thanks to these books. One student, who once struggled to engage with reading, has recently found a passion for graphic novels. With the new titles, he's not only finishing books but also sharing them with his classmates, proudly discussing the artwork and plotlines. It's amazing to see how these books have helped build confidence in readers who may have otherwise felt disconnected from traditional texts.
Your donation has given our students the chance to explore new worlds through literature and develop lifelong reading habits. It has also created a space for them to build skills that will serve them both in and outside of the classroom. These new books have been a game changer, and we can't thank you enough for your support!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Kristen
This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Foundation and one other donor.School Libraries Are for Everyone!
Funded Mar 22, 2022It cannot be said enough times how grateful we are to have the support of awesome donors like you! With such a wide range of students from Prek-5th grade and including Special Education classes we need many different books and materials to fulfill the needs of all students. I would not be able to create such a welcoming environment for every student without these donations.
Students LOVE coming to the library and seeing a display of bright, shiny, new books! We are big fans of graphic novels, as well as fun picture books. Every class hears stories read to them in the library and having fresh new material is so important to us.
The thing that has been the biggest hit from this project is the puppet theater that we received! I had an old, broken one that would fall apart if a student even tapped it the wrong way, so needless to say, this new one is amazing!
Thank you so much for your support and your donations. It means the world to us!”

Ms. Kristen
Diversity in School Libraries Throughout the Year
Funded Nov 1, 2021We can't thank you enough for your generous donations to our library. My students love all the books!
The graphic novels are never on the shelves for more than a few hours before being checked out again. My favorite that we received is a beautiful new book from National Geographic that gives information about many of the native tribes in North America. It even has information on tribes that are not often recognized in other resources, so this has been incredibly helpful for teachers. My native students really appreciate seeing the variety of native faces in the book.
We are so grateful for your support. In a society that is valuing libraries less and less, the support we get from donors like you means so much!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Kristen
Diversity And Inclusion
Funded Aug 13, 2021My students and I are absolutely loving the new resources that your donations helped fund! Because of this project I was able to start the year with new materials that I never would have had the funding for otherwise. Even the smallest thing, the pencil sharpeners, make a huge difference with my classes! Having sharp pencils is a MUST!
The item that has made the biggest impact in our school library are the diverse puppets. The puppets represent people from around the world, such as Mexico, Ghana, Japan and a few other places. Students can see representations of themselves and see people who look different from themselves.
My next step will be using the coding robots during the Hour of Code in the first week of December. The kids will be SO excited!
Thank you again for your support.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Kristen
