  • Drumroll please... (but not without your help!)

    Funded Mar 25, 2025

Thank you so much for giving to our program! These lollipop drums and other percussion tools will give me what I need to get all of my students included in an Afro-Peruvian drum band! I'm so excited to share with you the results of our musical journey. Thank you for giving to a wonderful community of students with special needs. Their appreciation goes beyond words.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Fred

  • Our Need for Music is Ear-resistible

    Funded Oct 27, 2024

On behalf of all the students in my class, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation towards providing guitars for our program. Your support is not just a contribution to an instrument, but a powerful investment in the musical education and creativity of these young minds. Thanks to you, our students now have the opportunity to explore their passion for music in a way that would have otherwise been impossible.

Your kindness and belief in the importance of arts education have made a lasting impact. These guitars will be used every day, helping our students grow as musicians and individuals. It's a privilege to see their excitement and progress, and none of this would be possible without your generosity. Thank you again for making such a meaningful difference in their lives.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Fred

  • A Library Cart in Need of Your Help!

    Funded Mar 5, 2024

If only I could express in words the impact your donation has made. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and if you watch the upcoming slideshow, I think you will agree that my words cannot do justice to how thrilled the students look in the pictures.

Many of our students lack the fundamental skills needed to read and comprehend on grade-level. For this reason, our school's library has for many years been filled with children's books that may be on our students' reading level, but content-wise, are far below our students' level of understanding.

The rise of graphic novels has helped to attract a lot of students who have difficulty reading to the art of literature, and has even inspired some students to begin making their own graphic novels. The majority of our students LOVE and prefer comics and graphic novels and visually based books of this nature, but due to the limited funding and availability within the NYC DOE, these books are often difficult and expensive to get.

But not anymore, thanks to you all! Your donations have brought so much joy and happiness to our school! Thank you for all that you do! These kids would not be able to access reading that they actually LOVE without all of you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Fred

  • Our Need for Music is Ear-Resistable!

    Funded Mar 3, 2021

Since my set of keyboards have arrived, I've had the pleasure of teaching three students piano chords and two of them are even playing along with me while I play guitar!

It's been a tough year (feels like two!) and I'm sure all of my fellow educators know that our students might be worn out emotionally. Being that my students all have special needs and are non-verbal autistic, they don't express their emotions so easily.

Scientifically, music has been proven to access the part of the mind that helps us tap into our emotions, and let me tell you: it's true! My students have all seen a decrease in malicious behaviors since the incorporation of music time, and your donations helped make that happen!

Our goal is to perform a piece in next years talent show as a class. We will keep you all posted on our progress. I can't thank you all enough!!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Fred

The students (five ten-year-olds with moderate to severe autism) will be coloring, painting and designing a weatherproof bookshelf out of the oven. The bookshelf will then be made into a Little Free Library and placed outside the school! These students rarely get the chance to showcase their artistic abilities, let alone have it displayed for the whole neighborhood to see. Let's give them that chance! I have already reached out to local libraries and gotten books donated, and they are so excited to get started. The bookshelf would also be located in a high needs area and will serve both gen-ed and special-ed students of that area.
