This year all of the students in my district will be expected to learn computer science and technology concepts, along with digital citizenship and internet safety skills, while working in a hybrid teaching and learning model, which is entirely new to all of us. While students are in the school building on alternating days, they will be socially distanced, sitting six feet apart from everyone while wearing a face mask all day. On alternating days, and for those whose families have elected to be all remote, students will be required to participate in live streamed classes from their homes to participate in computers and technology classes. Unlike most other districts in our state, our school is running a full school day for all of the students five days a week. The students I teach throughout the week are in grades kindergarten through grade four. My students deserve to participate in engaging, colorful, updated, and interactive lessons, as all students, whether learning from home or while in the classroom, will be using a digital device to learn with. With gift cards from Teachers Pay Teachers, I will be able to purchase interesting digital materials that will assist me in developing differentiated lessons that are standards based, cross-curricular, highly engaging, collaborative, and on topic. All of the materials posted on Teachers Pay Teachers have been created and tested by other teachers. Some of the materials that I would like to purchase include digital interactive notebooks to promote learning digital citizenship skills such as digital rights and responsibilities, effective digital communication skills, digital etiquette, copyright law and fair use laws, digital commerce, effective research skills, and internet safety. Other lessons I would like to purchase are project-based and encourage creativity along with critical thinking and problem-solving.
