Funded May 7, 2020What a challenging time it is to be an educator! As a behavior analyst who runs social skills groups during fully remote learning, I really struggled with how best to introduce new social skills concepts remotely to my students with autism. Your donations have gone a long way in helping me to do just that. For my younger students, the Feelings Book has been a fun and interactive way to identify our feelings and the feelings of others. I have developed many activities that have used this book as a focal point. For my grades 2/3 students, the Big Al book has really helped our discussions about making friends, how people are different, and what makes each of us special. Both groups have loved using the Crocodile toy for turn-taking and hilarious fun with friends.
I apologize for not having pictures with students, but during remote learning we are prohibited from recording any of the sessions with pictures or video.
You have all made a difference in the lives of these students during a very difficult time. I wish I could send you pictures of all of the smiles, but that will have to wait for when things are back to "normal." Many, many thanks to you for your generosity and kindness.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Karen
