  • Sensory Experiences to Help Us Navigate Our Day

    Funded May 3, 2022

Thank you thank you thank you!!! We are so excited to be able to complete our dream project of a wonderful Sensory/Mindfulness room for our amazing students. We absolutely could not have done this without you! I can't wait to share pictures of what you helped us accomplish!”

    With gratitude,

  • Learning Through Play the Sensory Way!

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

The donations that were made for "Learning Through Play the Sensory Way" have made a huge difference for our students. We have a Sensory room that is beautiful and calming. Students are now attending "Mindful Moments" sessions, where they learn all about being calm and being present in the moment. There are also sensory activities to engage in. The absolute BIGGEST and most popular addition is the star light projector, which turns the room into a beautiful nighttime oasis. The staff also love coming in to take some deep breaths! This has been such a fun project, and we owe all of the success to your generosity. Thank you doesn't quite cover it.

Please note that the photos included with this note contain both "before" and "after" images!”

  • A Continuation of Our Initial Sensory Project

    Funded Dec 19, 2021

Thank you so much for helping to fund my project! The kids will put all of this to good use and these sensory materials will enhance their learning experience. Learning self-regulation and calming techniques is vitally important to the kids that I support, and now this will be something we can do on a regular basis. I am profoundly grateful!”

  • A Fun Way to Learn Social Skills at Home!

    Funded May 7, 2020

What a challenging time it is to be an educator! As a behavior analyst who runs social skills groups during fully remote learning, I really struggled with how best to introduce new social skills concepts remotely to my students with autism. Your donations have gone a long way in helping me to do just that. For my younger students, the Feelings Book has been a fun and interactive way to identify our feelings and the feelings of others. I have developed many activities that have used this book as a focal point. For my grades 2/3 students, the Big Al book has really helped our discussions about making friends, how people are different, and what makes each of us special. Both groups have loved using the Crocodile toy for turn-taking and hilarious fun with friends.

I apologize for not having pictures with students, but during remote learning we are prohibited from recording any of the sessions with pictures or video.

You have all made a difference in the lives of these students during a very difficult time. I wish I could send you pictures of all of the smiles, but that will have to wait for when things are back to "normal." Many, many thanks to you for your generosity and kindness.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Karen

I have chosen an alligator game that I have used this year with the students during social skills lessons at school to teach interactive play, waiting, turn-taking, and attending. They love it and having a familiar toy, will be fun and comforting for them. I'm hoping that this will also encourage some great family interactions! I've also chosen some books that focus on emotions and social skills, so that we can look at them together during our virtual social skills groups. Teaching social interaction in person skills is hard, but trying to do it through distance learning can be an enormous challenge! These kids have come so far this year and I am excited for their growth to continue even in the face of this pandemic. Thank you for helping me to support these amazing kids!
