Books can ignite a child's imagination. My students may be 8-9 years olds, but coming from low-income families means they have responsibilities of young adults outside of school. In school, they don't have much time to read freely on what their interests are due to Standards and time commitments for everyday lessons.
When they are in my class, I want them to have that chance to be a kid and explore their imagination using books. With an arsenal of literature, technology, and art supplies I am ready to inspire my students in a creative and positive way. I will be the change they want to see.
