  • My Teacher Is Wearing an Awesome Hat!

    Funded Sep 4, 2020

Thank you so very much for helping fund this project. Our special needs pre k students will love the many different hats I will wear each day. These hats will engage, and inspire language. This is exactly what they need at this age. I wore a birthday hat to test it online today and I got a great positive reaction from my online students. We had a birthday in the class and they loved to see the hat and wish the other student a happy birthday on his special day. I believe the students will enjoy seeing their teacher wear their favorite pre-school characters just like they do on TV! These are unique times that we are teaching and learning in. We have to be creative and think outside the box to teach them on their computer or tablet box. The magnetic animals will be a great visual for teaching zoo animals online as well. I am excited to use the materials when we receive them here . I will post some pictures of me teaching online with the various hats and using the magnetic animals. On behalf of all my students, thank you so much. We are truly blessed.”

  • Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto!

    Funded Aug 12, 2019

Our ozobot has changed the way we have center time. It is very popular among our students. They share the one ozobot that we have. Two were requested, but one didn't charge when we plugged it in. It doesn't even power on. I contacted donorschoose and Amazon to issue a refund and it still hasn't been resolved yet. We would like to have the second ozobot to have during center time since often the students argue about who gets to use it. However, he is well liked and we are glad to have him. They named him, "Beep." Our first graders love technology so much that I wrote another technology grant for them, which I hope will get funded. I'd like them to have more resources to choose from during center time so they can each have something to do instead of sharing one robot. Thank you so much for your help with this project! It was unexpected and amazing to have such support at the beginning of the school year. I wish I could upload video to show you all how neat it is to see Beep in action. I will take some pictures soon to upload here. On behalf of our wonderful 1st graders, Thank you so much.”

  • Cut It Out! Scissors Just Don't "Cut It!"

    Funded Mar 20, 2019

The paper cutter has made a world of a difference in my teaching. I am able to cut many papers we need for ELA, Science and Social Studies. I probably cut around 500 copies a week for my students. My students named the paper cutter, Mr. CHOMPY because he eats the paper sometimes. I use Mr. CHOMPY every single week. It helps save time and cramps In my hands from using scissors. Its true what they say, the right tool for the job! On behalf of all my students, Thank you so much for helping us out.”

  • 100 Days Smarter and Motivated to Finish Our Year Strong!

    Funded Jan 10, 2019

Thank you so much for the 100 days of school materials. My students were excited to use the 100 days stickers! They loved decorating their 100 day crowns as well. The moment they walked through the door, 100 days of school felt like a huge accomplishment to them. I wish you could have seen the excitement in their faces when they saw everything this project provided! When they walked through the door, each item was on their desks. They immediately went over to investigate! Thank you again for these engaging materials.”

  • They See Me Rolling: Let's Anchor Our Readers!

    Funded Dec 10, 2018

The anchor chart has been absolutely amazing this school year. We used it in our daily whole group instruction for both Reading and Math core subjects. It is a wonderful thing that through donor's choose, teachers can give their students things that wouldn't otherwise be able to provide. Having a place to store chart paper, chart markers, and portable board for whole group instruction has made a huge difference with our class. We love this portable anchor chart and white board. Thank you again for this wonderful asset to the classroom.”

  • Help Us Help the Needy!

    Funded Sep 18, 2018

Thank you so much for helping make this project possible. My students were excited to help others, especially around the holidays! Giving back to the needy is an important service learning project that the students are able to do. They have learned a great deal about what it means to help others. Whenever they can, they enjoy giving to each other and those in need. Student benefits of service-learning include enhanced opportunities for learning, and personal and social skill development. Students gain increased knowledge of academic materials, their communities, and themselves. Service-learning is a form of experiential education that supports deep learning.

Thank you so much for your support,”

  • Light the "Fire" for Reading! Amazon Fire Tablets!

    Funded Jan 1, 2018

Thank you so much for the amazon fire tablets. We have installed Math, thinking, English, Science, and Social Studies games on o both of the tablets. So far, we have the tablets on a rotation and the students take turns. It is has not been good method, so we are changing it.

Each week, one group will get the tablets. Due to a charitable parent, we also were blessed with two more Amazon fire tablets. Each table group will now get the tablets once a week. So every student will end up using the tablet at least 1 time a month For an entire week. This is when their school work and assignments are completed and they have a few extra minutes throughout the day.”

  • Building, Engineering, and STEAM, oh my!

    Funded Nov 15, 2017

This STEAM project has really been an amazing resource for my students. They do not even know they are learning! They are enjoying playing with the hands-on problem solving games such as "Marble Run" and the bamboo builders. They can use their own ingenuity to create unique buildings. The build a bridge activity is also very popular along with the magnetic builders. We are planning on using the STEM journals to do some Science activities before the end of the school year. We are able to also share the materials with another 2nd grade classroom. So, this grant has impacted more students than we originally thought. Thank you so very much for all who donated to this project. There were many people who knew the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math in the classroom. This project has given the students a true love for engineering, and Science. They want to learn why things didn't work the first time, and we discuss what they could have done differently. It allows for a lot of higher order thinking within the general education setting. My student's lives have changed significantly since they have received these materials. They are questioning more, and interested in how things work. We had so many things purchased with this grant, that we had to get a shelf to house and organize all of the materials so the students can access it with ease. Thank you again for all of your continued support in our awesome 2nd grade classroom.”

  • Reading, Books, and Graphic Novels, Oh My!

    Funded Nov 28, 2017

Thank you so much for helping fund this project. These graphic novel books are an amazing resource that our classroom needed. I have several boys that do not like to read anything. They are struggling readers also. These books really helped pique these students' interests and they are literally fighting over who gets to check the books out next. They can't keep their hands off of the graphic novels. It makes literacy fun and entertaining. On behalf of my students, thank you so much for your support with this project. Our classroom will never be the same. It has impacted us in such a positive way. Thanks again.”

    Funded Sep 11, 2017

This project was Amazing! We now have many scented stickers as incentives for our 2nd graders. We also have a stamp kit that our students can use to practice spelling, writing, and center based learning in our classroom. The scented stickers are used in small group guided reading to help motivate our learners. It helps our awesome 2nd graders gain the confidence they need for success. The happy birthday hats and accessories have been very helpful in making our students feel special as well. On behalf of all of my wonderful 2nd graders, thank you for the tools we need for our classroom. We appreciate all of your generosity and support.”
