Pre K Artists in Training
Funded Sep 7, 2022Happy New Year!
Every year I am excited to meet my new students and prepare for their year. Knowing that I want them to have everything that they will need to be successful is always on my mind. When I first saw that my project was funded I was so excited. I have been a teacher for many years and the struggle to get all the materials for your students is always stressful for both me and the community I work in.
As we gathered on the rug I brought the boxes for the students to see. A few were chosen to open the box and the next removed one item at a time to see what was in the box. The looks on their faces as they realized that these were given to us by a stranger was priceless. I couldn't have imagined the reaction and faces of appreciation from my 4 year olds.
The materials - the crayons, pencils, watercolors and kinetic sand help the children to build their fine motor skills - starting with holding the materials, then using it to strengthen their fine motor skills. They then continue to use these materials in their creativity in art and designing for each unit we study.
Thank you for such a gracious gift. We are so grateful.”

Funded Dec 31, 2021We received our project materials and immediately my amazing Pre K students could not wait to open them up. We had learned about needs and wants, and the expressions on their faces when they realized we were getting new items that we needed was heart warming.
Waiting to open the items and waiting to use them was the hardest part.
Ross and Kristopher took the magnetic trucks. They could not believe it when they started to play with the trucks and realized that they were magnetic and could be taken apart and mixed and matched. The screams made the other children run to them and see what they were doing. It led to another student being intrigued by magnets that he went to the science center to find what attracts to magnets. And then Craig realizing that the gears that we received were also magnetic.
Each item opened led to a thrilling observation and engaged the students, allowing them to use not just in play but in with our learning stations.
We thank you for allowing us to have a hands on experience to learning and the tools we need to make it happen.”
