  • Geology, Sensory Supplies and Art

    Funded Mar 25, 2025

Thank you so much for the donations towards this project. The trampoline and swing have been much needed items, due to the specific needs of a few of my students who need extra sensory input. The geodes will be a fun activity to do with the students, as hands on learning is most conducive to the style of learning my students benefit from. The bean bags will assist in flexible seating options for the students and provide a relaxing substitute for typical classroom chairs. Thank you again!”

  • Science, Art and Geography Enrichment

    Funded Feb 12, 2025

Thank you so much for your generous donations! With these items we can ensure a more fulfilling and enriching education, exposing the kids to new and fun materials!

The new bean bags can also help us implement flexible seating in the classroom, which is so helpful in a classroom like mine.”

  • Storage for Adaptive Equiptment

    Funded Oct 31, 2024

Thank you so much for your donation. Some students require a lot of adaptive equiptment in order to be able to succeed in the classroom setting. Some of the equipment and supplies are full of fun little visual manipulatives which make leaving it out and around the class difficult because so many of the students want to play with it. This unfortunately results in items getting lost, hindering the students education. Thanks to this tool chest, we are able to properly store all of the equipment, which makes providing instruction much easier. Thank you so much.”

  • Social Emotional Learning

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

These donations have helped to encourage cooperative learning, taking turns and sharing. They enjoy the cooperative learning and sharing that the workbench and kitchen provide is a great way to teach, while the students also have fun learning.

The books have been wonderful. The students love reading the books and matching the sounds to the animal/object on the page. They also have to take turns sharing the new favorite books.

The montisorri boards that came have been a perfect way for us to work on fine motor skills, and get sensory input, while also having a great time doing it.

The kids were beyond excited to get the items that came to us. Watching their glee when we opened the boxes was incredibly satisfying for myself, and the kids. Thank you so much!”

  • Providing Students with New Books, Incentives and Sensory Need Items

    Funded Mar 11, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donations. This project was very important to me specifically because of the blue crash pad. This year we had a student join us with some pretty significant disabilities, and because he is in a wheelchair for the majority of the day, it is important for him to have other places in the room that he can lay or sit down. Because of this item, it has created a better quality of life for him in the classroom, allowing him to fully stretch out his body. When he isn't using the crash pad, the sensory seekers in the room lay on it to decompress.

The magnetic fishing game, geodes and books also provided new and exciting materials for my students to enjoy. The fishing game taught them to take turns while waiting, and created a fun little social setting for them all to cheer on each others "catch". The geodes are an activity I like to do each year, to excite students about the mysteries of the earth, and the excitement that comes from seeing a plain old geode break open, uncovering a secret rock full of purple or crystle clear gemstones. Again, thank you so much.”

  • Science and Sensory Materials

    Funded Oct 7, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations. The children have been enjoying the new materials so much!

The flexible seating has been such a wonderful addition to the classroom, providing children with the necessary sensory input to help them focus throughout their daily lessons. It also allows them to wiggle their bodies, which helps them to stay focused.

The microscope has also been such a wonderful addition to our science lessons. We have looked at butterfly wings, rocks, leafs and other objects we have found around the school.

The marble race has also been incredibly fun for the kids! They have to problem solve to get the marbles to go from one end to the other, and it even comes with pieces that light up and move on their own! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!”

  • Classroom Organization for Fostering Learning

    Funded Sep 6, 2023

Thank you so much for your kind and generous donations. The students have enjoyed the modular couch so much! They can use their creativity and teamwork to build a couch, bed, train, car and many other shapes. It has been encouraging the kids to work together and then share the space they have made. It also provides a nice couch for our relaxation corner, where kids can go and relax when they are overstimulated during the day.

The locking desk and cupboard have been a life saver in here. I have been able to lock up items such as scissors, glue, paints and important items, without worrying that they will end up in someone's backpack at the end of the day, or being used to cut someone's hair. Thank you so much!”

  • Sensory Needs for Functional Skills

    Funded May 23, 2023

I want to send a special thank you, for the gifts you allowed us to get for our room. Some of the items were so successful, I am tempted to buy doubles. Coming to school can be stressful for a lot of kids, but when my students saw their new "prizes" waiting for them, they jumped right into school, and they were all excited to be here.

The lights that attach to the wall have created quite the peaceful experience for one of my more significantly impacted Autistic students. He enjoys looking at the lights and the cause and effect of tapping them on and off. The inflatable canoe provides deep pressure for my students who require deep pressure sensory input. We also received magnets, which the students love using, and they love walking around testing objects in the room to see which ones are magnetic. The spinning toy helps with fine motor, and is fun to use for the students who enjoy watching it spin. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

  • Adaptive Swing for our Class

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

I can honestly say that no grant, gift or object has ever come close to bringing the amount of joy that the swing has brought. The amount of excitement it brought them was incredible. Some of the students prefer spinning, while others prefer to relax, providing a calming a comforting way to decompress. What I didn't expect was the impact it would have on their ability to learn to share, providing multiple daily opportunities to take turns, using a sand timer to allow them to visually see how much time was left of their turn.

Thank you again for the opportunities you have given to my students.”

  • Science and Emotional Well-Being

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you so much! My students have been absolutely loving the new resources. I wanted to focus on science and social emotional products for this Donors Choose grant. I want my students, no matter what their educational level, to be curious about the world around them.

Reading and math can be difficult for my students, but the world around them is tangible. For example, when learning about insects we can go outside and look at the insects. The insect catching bug vacuum allowed my students to go catch bugs outside and bring them into the room to study them before we let them go back outside. They LOVED it! They LOVED cracking open the geodes more than anything. They couldn't believe that you can crack open a seemingly plain rock, and there are beautiful gemstones on the inside. My students were collecting outside rocks and trying to crack them open for days after that. The terrarium was also a fun class project. The plants grew over an inch within the first 3 days. The students loved participating in making it, and have enjoyed watching the roots grow and then the plants.

We have all appreciated this donation so much. Thank you.”
