Less Distractions, Better Focus
Funded Aug 29, 2021We are using technology with every school subject. A majority of this is done on Chromebooks. All of our computer programs make noise and play music and songs. To hear all of this at the same time would be distracting and annoying to all in the classroom. The students wouldn't be able to focus on their individual work nor get it completed in a timely manner.
The ooohhhss and awwwwssss that echoed the room when I pulled out the brand new boxes were joyful. The class was so excited to get their very own brand new headphones!
They were so careful opening the boxes for the first time.
I am proud of how respectful my students are with their headphones (and all our technology materials). My class always folds the headphones, wraps the cords, and places them in the box. The box fits nicely in their desk too.
The quality of these headphones is great! The students can hear well and they are sturdy. I will clean and reuse these headphones for my future classes.”

Science With LEGOS
Funded Dec 1, 2020The LEGO kits were a success! The students were so excited when they saw them and immediately started sharing ideas of how we could use them. During some of our Science lessons they were used to make cities and towns for our earthquake and hurricane lessons. It was very creative as the students would try to make the structures as strong or weak as possible to observe the outcome. The students created challenges with the LEGOS and even incorporated other items in the classroom like books, chairs, a broom, etc to try to win! One team made their structure go out into the hallway! The kits were also used as a learning incentive. The kits were easy for students to use individually or with teams. They are also easy to clean. With such difficult times at home and around the world it was wonderful to have some joy and excitement in their learning.”

Funded Feb 25, 2020I am grateful for the LEGO kits my students received. Of course the kids love the LEGOS, but it also a great way to teach science. STEM is used frequently in my science lessons and LEGOS are a great way to teach that. The process of building a LEGO kit involves following directions step by step, tying and failing, and working together to come up with ideas on how to build it. Also they can be used for imaginative building where students write about what they made. I included a photo of gears a student made on their own during our LEGO time. During these unusual times it is nice to have something educationally fun for my students to do in the classroom. I am LEGO certified and being able bring this fun to science is exciting for them and me!”
