  • A Reading Area Students Want To Use

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

Your generous donation has created a cozy space for my 5th grade students to read. They love to grab a pillow and lay on the pink round rug under the lamps. Students who don't usually enjoy reading the old-fashion way (with a book), are frequently asking for a turn in our reading area. With so many books online that can be read from a screen at their desk, my students are enjoying reading in a fun atmosphere. As a teacher, this is a joy to watch my students get lost in a good book in a comfortable space.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Elizabeth Young

  • Mrs. Young-Hooley's Classroom News

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

The 5th grade students in my class have LOVED reading about current events, sports, new technology and various exciting facts about the world outside our classroom. Your generous donation towards our year-long resource gift of Scholastic News and Time for Kids, has brought more excitement into our classroom when it comes to reading content. Just yesterday, my students independently read and wrote about their favorite article in the latest edition that arrived in the mail. More often than not, they want to read the news more than their library books! Thank you for giving the gift of reading to my 5th graders.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Elizabeth Young

My students have access to many different programs and tools on Chromebooks, all of which are personalized an need to have headphone to use them. When working with 5th grade it very difficult to keep cheap headphone in good condition. The headphones that we were provided with this year have all fallen apart. The wiring is coming apart, the pad are falling off, and they have become unsafe. We use them ever single day, multiple times a day, so they need to be able to withstand 100 different kids cycling through my room all day. It would be amazing to have reliable headphone so we are not scrambling to find enough for everyone. We also test on the computers at the end of the year so they need reliable headphones for that.
