It is important for students to be read to everyday. It is also important for all readers, no matter what their independent reading levels are, to hear what we call stretch text. Stretch text is a text that is above their level to read on their own, but not necessarily to comprehend, respond to and understand. It exposes them to many new vocabulary words as well as enriches their background knowledge or schema. These great books, are bound to increase students love of reading as well! We will also be using the book sets to extended our critical thinking skills within written responses to certain chapters and/or comprehension questions.
