The Gelli Art Print Plates are absolutely wonderful! They make printmaking, a project that would seem daunting to me as an art teacher, effortless and extremely successful for all students. My students love new, fun and exciting art projects. If I had the Gelli Plates, I would be able to print with all my students, kindergarten through fifth grade. Usually more difficult projects, such as printmaking, would only be taught to my secondary students (3rd, 4th, and 5th). With this new easy process, I would also include the primary students! They LOVE these new processes; if they learn about these techniques early on, I would only be able to build on to their knowledge throughout their time in elementary. Andy Warhol is one of many great artists to look at when it comes to printmaking. Growing up, I adored his brightly colored backgrounds and portraits. His soup cans are very identifiable and kids relate to them. I would love to share with my students his bright pop art and show them how to create their own! Having multiple colors and stencils to print with only deepens the excitement. Students are able to love their work and truly be able to make their own decisions regarding their art.
