Teaching in a lower economic rural school means that many of my students do not readily have access to newspaper or magazines for current events. By incorporating Scholastic into my classroom, current event topics will be brought to the forefront for discussion. I believe it is important for my students to understand some of what is going on in the world outside of their small town! It is also an opportunity to share different opinions on a topic. Instilling in my students that it is OK for us to have different ideas on a topic and that we can talk about it but still be friends will be priceless.
