  • Actively Listening while Responding to Books

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

As we continue to develop our skills in reading, it is vital that we have all the tools and materials at our finger tips. One of those items requested was a tape cassette and a listening station. In Kindergarten, we have several students who are learning a ton of vocabulary for the first time. By being able to listen to a story that has rich text and vocabulary, allows students the ability to enhance their knowledge as well as their background knowledge. Many students come into our classroom with the lack of this knowledge. Listening to books with our new center has been very beneficial to our growth in vocabulary and background knowledge.

The figits have been extremely beneficial in keeping our little hands busy while we listen. Some of students need a little extra assistance in their learning and these toys have been a great asset to their learning.

We appreciate the additions to our classroom and look forward to using them all year.”

  • Stemming Our Needs

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

Thank you very much for all the resources you have generously provided. Students were very excited to see all the boxes when they came in. They helped me unbox and put away items. Their faces lit up when they saw the snacks.

I have already given out all the art boxes that were requested. So many students come into the classroom without the necessary items to help them work throughout the day. The snacks were already eaten and enjoyed by those students who were unable to provide snack until our grant was provided by the school. It helped get them through the very long day. We appreciate you filling our bellies.

Thank you for all the paper plates. We are using them to create amazing crafts. We have also used them for our stem projects in science. They have been very useful and we have shared them with the entire grade level.

Other items were used for daily use. Students use dry erase markers daily. We tend to go them quite frequently. The extra markers have helped us greatly.

We can not thank you enough to invest in our learning. We will use all the supplies.”

  • Interactive Play

    Funded May 5, 2020

I can't thank you enough for supplying us with money to purchase our new stem legos. Unfortunately the tablets as previously needed was not supported by our district. Instead I purchased legos that the students can use their imaginations to create anything they would like to create.

The impact it has on my classroom has been amazing. They kids are so eager to work for their bags. They look forward to it each week. The excitement can be heard all the way down the hallway. Thank you again for giving to our project.”

  • Flexible Learning Environment

    Funded Oct 14, 2019

We were so excited to see our boxes when they arrived. We could not wait to open them and see what was inside.

We have been elated to use our new seats and tubs. We use our tubs daily with our math. We use our seats daily in our stations. The tubs are easy for us to pick up and carry to our seats. We love being independent.

Our seats are being enjoyed by not only us but also the rest of our a kindergarten. We all love to wiggle in them.

Thank you for helping us start our collection of wiggle seats. We love sitting in them and wiggling in them.”

  • Growing Socially and Emotionally

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

I am so thankful to receive these resources. My students have already loved listening to the manners books and we have discussed how we can use our manners in the various places. We have shared our books with other teachers in our building to help them teach manners. We are very excited to continue reading them throughout the year.

We particularly love reading our Magic Breath book. It has paired nicely with our Second Steps Curriculum we teach. Students have been able to make connections with the story as well as trying to incorporate it into their daily lives.

We received gears as a part of this as well. This has been used during our Purposeful Play time where we practice not only our manners but also our calming techniques. We are very blessed to have donors like you contribute to our classroom. Thank you for continuing to help us grow emotionally and socially.”

  • Creativity and Critical Thinking Through STEM Projects

    Funded Aug 6, 2018

Thank you so much for your donation. The students have been exploring and building marvelous things with all of the STEM materials. It has been very beneficial for my students to be able to interact with one another while creating something with their materials. The impact these materials have upon this classroom can not be simply measured by pictures. The conversations these little engineers are having is very valuable to their future education. So far we have been able to problem solve why one structure was stronger than another. Thank you for your generousosity.”

  • Help us Listen to Our Favorite Books

    Funded Mar 27, 2015

Thank you so much for providing our listening center which included a new CD/Tape player, head phones, and center box. My students at the end of last school year and this current school year have enjoyed using this new center. The excitement they have now knowing they can listen to a book they love is extremely motivating them to read.

Currently my students use the listening station everyday. It is a vital station in our room. Students look forward to going to that station in order to listen to a book, play a phonemic awareness game, or a phonics game.

Thank you again for giving to our fund. The joy students get from listening to books motivates them to pick up a book to read. Thank you!!”

  • Let's Grow Kindergarten Readers

    Funded Oct 27, 2014

This tablet has become a highlight of our day. When my students walk in the door they will ask when they can use the tablet. For the last 2 months of school I will be able to allow students to use them first thing in the morning for remediation or enrichment. Students are happy to be able to use them at any point of our day.

My students were so excited to receive a tablet to help them with their reading skills. My students have been motivated to read difficult stories while answering comprehension questions. I have seen a major improvement in not only their motivation but also their reading skills.

Thank you for providing the tablet for my students. We will use them for the remainder of the year but also for years to come.”

  • Helping a Kindergartner Read

    Funded Oct 28, 2014

My students excitement for reading has improved with the addition of our tablets. They can not wait to read with me on them or read by themselves. One of our favorite apps allows us to sound out words or pick the word that makes sense.

We have been working on skills that will help us read in high grade levels. We are excited to share our learning with our peers but also our reading buddies. We love sharing our tablets with other students so that they can become better readers and writers.

Thank you for helping us get motivated and excited to read.”

My students are low income students. My students walk into my room not knowing how to hold a pencil, tie their shoes, or wash their hands. A lot of times my class is their first experience with books. My students need to be able to read more non-fiction books on their level.
